No shots today, but we went for a 20 miler at the Rodale Cycling Park Loop by the Trexlertown Velodrome, because I wanted to really push the limits of our newly acquired Ciocc. Really nice wide airport runway quality asphalt, no cars, dedicated wide bike lane, mile long loop one nice up hill and a fast downhill with a couple of hairpins. Perfect place to push a bike and the Ciocc seems to like taking fast downhill curves as much as I do

Pulled another 50 miler with a club riding the Nishiki Prestige. It gets some strange looks, but most folks are cool. The first part of the ride was pretty good, but I faded bad at 40 miles and crawled back.

I used to spend a lot of time in Lowell, Mass., when I worked for DEC way back when. They had their corporate University in Bedford, and corporate housing in Lowell. I'd go there for training 3-4 times a year. I was pretty young then, and there was a "nightclub" halfway between Lowell and Bedford in Billerica - that place got a lot of our per-diem.

My ride yesterday wasn't by bike, but by car. I made a trip down to Portland to deliver a Gitane TDF frame I had sold on CL.

The guy who bought it, a nice young fellow, just happened to be project manager for Vanilla Bicycles Speedvagen project. He didn't mind allowing me to come in for a shop tour and I had the pleasure of seeing first hand a Vanilla bike being built as well as a complete bike ready for delivery. totally awesome.

My picture doesn't begin to do justice to such a piece of handcrafted art. I was told the shop was in a bit of disarray as they are preparing for a move to new facilities. My humble Gitane frame sits in the work stand, soon to become a town bike for the guys wife.

I rode the Pinellas Trail from Tarpon Springs to Largo and back today. Awesome day! I've got some pictures, but it wouldn't be a vacation if I remembered everything; no card reader. Doh!

I'll ride the whole thing sometime this week, maybe twice or three times.

I’m trying to get myself in some sort of riding shape after the long winter layoff and took my Trek 600 for a 20 mile jaunt on this beautiful afternoon in my neighborhood…stopped at a small lake for a drink and took a couple of snaps of the Trek…the more I ride this bike, the more I like it…

Was out riding last week and found the perfect backdrop for a bike glam photo, but I didn't have my camera. So what's a guy to do but ride back with a camera? I would have preferred the softer light earlier in the morning, but I slept in too late (8 am start).





Looking back towards Point Mountain. Climbed over that ridge, back down, then up again to where this photo was taken. Admittedly, the climb would have been far more challenging had I ridden the loop in reverse.



The octagon house in Hackettstown, NJ. I don't know much about it, other than it was built in 1859.



It was a nice 30 mile spin on a glorious morning. Much nicer riding in proper spring temps of 60 degrees than the ridiculous 80-90 degree heat last week.

I took my Raleigh Gran Sport to a great local bike shop today. I stopped at the Mckinley Monument on the way home for an excuse to take pictures of my bike. I bought two much needed freewheel tools, a freewheel, bar tape and some NOS universal brake levers. I think the levers will find a home on my Raleigh sometime soon.

The monument. The interior of this place really creeped me out as a kid. There is a very large pedestal in the middle that holds the bodies of the President and his wife.... his kids are buried in the walls! The wind whips around the round interior and creates an erie humming noise.

20 miles to work in the dirty Dayton Ohio at night and 20 miles back to the house at 7am. All done on my 73 super course. Iofo this trip 5 days out of the week.

Nice hill climb ride today (8 miles total climbing with 5 of it at 6.5% or so) on the PX10 (the headwind made me wish for something lower than the 42-24).

Well the day started with snow, cold and working on the old diesel with my friend. As we did the work the sun came out, snow left, and rain quit. By the time we finished it was a nice, though windy, afternoon. We loaded up the bikes and went to the Pinery Trail head. Did about 21 - 22 miles today, really enjoy just getting out for fun cruise rides, also was able to try out the new camera... WORKS GREAT! Plus it's fun riding an older bike and getting all of the crazy looks, even better when the classic bike and the classic car are almost the same age!

Only impressive on paper. The sad truth is that I got SO wasted that I haven't yet recovered.

The new bunch of riders I hang out with are very competitive, extremely fit, and, worst, somewhat older..

Well, I'd expect you to be tired after 5000' feet of climbing at 16 mph riding solo!

I'm just weak. I averaged under 13 mph, and while my recovery wasn't bad, my legs were in pain. I've got fit and nutrition issues I can't seem to sort out. Or I'm just weak.
