Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Good news! My friend Michelle got an email from Indy. He is still in the hospital but obviously doing better since he can email. My hope is he pops in here soon.

Can't you just hear them, this mating pair, discussing the finishing touches needed on the nest before the upcoming chick rearing season. The bigger of the two is the female, and the male looks to be ready to promptly fly off to fulfill her wishes.

Almost ran over the male today. She should prolly tell him to not look for nest pieces by the side of the road. Or maybe she didn’t want to settle.

No one ever does.
I fly with a lot of people from Boston. I’m beginning to think the Boston thing is all an act, he is actually from Florida or something.

Either that, or he’s just not as fun as Kevin Bacon.

I moved to Boston, from Florida, willingly. I wouldn’t trade it for anything, but it does raise more than a few eyebrows in these parts.

In other news, The Ritchey is no longer Clicking. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers as I went through that troublesome time. It was rough.

Depends on the part of Florida, but yes, I am beginning to second guess your life decisions.

I know the struggle. The noisy cassette body on my Storck was to the point where I was unmotivated to ride it. Very happy to have sorted that out.

Grew up in Tampa, did college in Gainesville, back to Tampa for grad school, then worked in Jax before moving north. Florida was just hot, or not as hot. I wanted seasons and be away from Floridians.

Fair enough. Tampa is just about the only part I could live in. It would still require me to commute, so will never happen.

Had a dream I showed up to the Crit race, the day of the 3 crit races and forgot to charge my etap. It was dead on arrival.

Its okay though, I still came in last.

edit: Any dream translators here? Does this mean something? 50 years of wealth and happiness?

I hate when that happens. If you didn't fix it, you don't know what caused it and you can't be sure it won't start up again and you STILL won't know how to fix it.

Were you late for the race? Were you wearing pajamas? Did you find yourself signed up for races you didn't remember signing up for but you had to race them anyway? Did you realize they weren't your pajamas, but actually your underwear? Did you find your bike had no chain? Did you realize they weren't your underwear at all and you were in fact stark naked, but nobody had noticed it yet and you had to walk a long way back to your care and you couldn't figure out how to do that without somebody noticing your nakedness?
