Heresy!
It's ain't politics and it ain't religion -- but it's still heresy I tell ya!
"Older U.S. adults may get too many colonoscopies"
.... What are they talking about? What good is it being a 50+ if you can't have one?

It's a pattern I tell you, everything (almost) goes around and comes around. When it first comes around it's good for you, then it goes around a bit and then it's bad for you. Or the other way around . . . it varies.
There is no winning in these crazy games, so I tell myself, "Hey, it's just life, deal with it." Usually I do.

I love the smell of Go-litely in the morning.
There is a risk with colonoscopies, and I guess the theory here is that when you're 75, it's likely something else will kill you before the colon cancer does. Now that's a grim thought for anyone over 75. Should I make it that long, I guess I'll make the decision then.
Maybe a virtual colonoscopy instead?

Cycle Year Round
It is true that our cycling lets us live longer, and needlessly suck up funds that could be used for better chairs and wood panelling in the special offices.

Finally had one of those last year. While it was mildly uncomfortable, I was too out of it to give a damn.
Thank you, George, for starting this thread.

The doctor who did my colonoscopy has been a friend for 20 years. While I was on the table waiting for the anesthesia, he warned me that if I make a joke about "having friends up the a**" he was going to sew my butt cheeks together!

Some years ago, I had a female doc for my GP. And of course, the day came for the glove-snapping prostate exam. Recognizing the awkwardness of the situation, while examining me, she quipped:
"Well, at least my finger is a little smaller, eh?"
"Yea, but could you trim your fingernails a little more next time?"

Mine didn't go real well (I kind of woke up a few times), and I have vowed never to have one again. Hopefully, something just as effective will come along.
The anesthetist called afterwards, saying "Just called to see how you were." -- making out as if it were routine to call. But she really just wanted to see if I remembered anything, which I did, and told her so. I remember it hurting, and her saying "breathe, breathe!" She said "You have really strong abs!"

In a Medical system that bills for what they do as a per service piecework basis you expect otherwise?

I don't remember a d**** thing about my colonoscopy. They all said it took forever to get me up and I kept asking the same question afterwards like 20X.

I'm due for another one this year, and I too don't recall anything about the first three. They knocked me out completely. Maybe I'm just really susceptible to the anesthesia they use!

That's about 75% political. Are you trying to get this thread locked or sent to P&R?
