Tonight I sold my 1977 Schwinn Le Tour II 22" Violet mixte to a nice woman who moved here from Michigan. She and her husband both wanted vintage bikes. She LOVED it.
Gave my 1995 Trek 820 to my sister-in-law. She's very happy. Offered to install a kickstand and a rack if she decides she's like them.
Sold the Fuji Sundance with the roller cam brakes to a guy who knew bikes. He really liked it.
Basically getting rid of bikes. I have too many of the same types of bikes. Not sure what I want or what i like. Each bike seems to have "something" that I don't like. I've spent so much money & time fixing things up, only to decide it's too big, too small, not ......you get the idea. I would prefer to have a few bikes I really like around vs a bunch of "meh".

Today I installed all the cable stops and guides on my Moto GR and set up the brakes. I've been stretching out a pair of Challenge Paris Roubaix sew ups; I'll glue them week.
I went snowshoeing today for 3 miles because I can't ride my bike...

Today I made my first foray into a volunteer run community bike shop and overhauled the bottom bracket and headset in my '83 Peugeot. I also stopped in the LBS to price out tires for the same. I learned how not paying attention to what you're doing can ruin a perfectly good crank arm, and how lucky I am that the volunteer shop happened to have an exact match on hand.

lazy day... just aligned the RD, cut and ran the derailleur cables, and measured the chain on project #2 . next task, cut/join the chain and tweak the derailleurs. i am trying one of those chain catchers on this one and it is messing with my routine. normally i get the FD all lined up before i put on the chain. the chain catcher requires the chain to be on before you align it. i guess old dogs can learn new tricks...

I am still in the process of polishing up an old (very pretty, IMHO) 3 speed girls bike (as a gift) for my sister-in-law.

I finished up a Fuji I intend to give to a friend, then I took it around the block.
I wanted to take this one out, but as you can see I might have lost the bike in the background colors.

I put the last coat of paint on my Raleigh International frame and the penultimate coat on the fork. Today, I started buffing it with polishing compound. Now I see how well it will come out, which is so-so. Well, I should be happy for my first frame paint job. A few feet away, it looks quite good. Closer up, less so.
We've had a lot of snow here, though nowhere near as much as in Boston. I'm pleased that I got to ride a little both yesterday and today. Yesterday, I rode my Volpe to two supermarkets. Today, I rode Citibike to another supermarket. We are picky about where we buy our food, so we shop at lots of different stores.

Today I decided the suntour hubs on my 83 mongoose atb needed to go bye bye. I laced a first gen. Phil bmx hub into the 26" pro class wheel, got the rear wheel stripped down to do the same, but decided on new spokes and nipples for the rear, ordered those as well as a new chain for my build. I'm tempted to throw a cinelli stem and some drop bars on it but I haven't convinced my self 100%. However I am in love with my blue campy crank. This will be a bike that never gets sold, as the crank and hubs would fetch about a grand on ebay, but any bike aficionado that sees it will know what's up!

Got a nos large rivet brooks professional in the post today for my 1974 raleigh professional. I think I'll take the campagnolo electa saddle off and put it on the merckx. Also got some c-record aero pedals in the post for my masi gran criterium. Leather straps and tires is all I have left on that one.

Any particular reason, if you don't mind me asking? Looks like the chain gap was better with the Tri-Color RD.

More aesthetic than anything else - the front derailleur is a Mk II so I was looking more to matching it up. By chain gap are you talking the wrap? The cage is a little longer on the MK II but I seem to have more slack in the small ring and am not quite sure how to tighten that up since I haven't worked with this derailleur before.

It's a brush job. I don't trust myself with spray.
I don't like how it's coming out. I tried polishing compound, and I see the paint is still too uneven. I think I need to sand more.
