Tuesday nights are big nights for us, as there is a TV station that screens three or four train programs, one Australian, one English and other others mixing in various North American and Canadian examples.. And as a kid, I was into model trains thanks to my father.
Now that interest has started to bite again, along with Machka's interest because of the major contribution that have been made to the economies on the places where she has lived in Canada. We have been to two model train shows recently (well, one was part of a celebration of the establishment of a real train museum around 40 years ago).
There is some research going on about which would be better -- N or OO gauge, investment in 3D printer, and all the other bits and pieces. The two recent model shows had an excellent example of an old, historic railway that linked a forestry harvesting aspect of a paper mill that I used to consult with by writing and producing their bi-monthly newspaper. The rail line still exists, although has declined a lot and there was some plan to convert it into a touring bicycle track.
The other big issue in getting back into it again is finding the room within the place we live to keep it together and operating.

In wordle this morning I did the Bah Humbug method. Threw up a random word, searching for more letters, and got a tre out of it.
In other news, I'm not finding time and energy together to do any bike riding. This has been a trend, over the last few years, as the summer weather moderates into Winter. This year and last, we have the added attraction of significantly more traffic in a significantly bigger hurry as our micro part of Yucatán claws it's way into a higher standard of living. The urge to go off road gets stronger this time of year.

Anyone else do Spelling Bee on the NYT website? I have gotten addicted to it, although I don't like how sometimes obvious words are not accepted. There are two in today's game.

I volunteered at our local running clubs 2k/3k (kids) and 5K trail run this past weekend. I may have mentioned I coach XC kids Monday and Thursday. The course was pretty awesome with about 350 feet of climbing over the 5K. Unfortunately I picked up a tick and now have a bulls eye. FML

My wife and my brother race to complete it every day. I get called in sometimes when wife gets stymied. All agree the word list is ridiculous.

The two unacceptable words today sometimes appear in the NYT crossword. They aren't slang or anything like that. One you would probably get because it is anatomical in nature. Yet within the last week I tried a slangy word on a whim and it was accepted. From what I understand, the guy who runs Bee has the final say. I think there should be some standard, such as the OED.

Forgive me, brothers, for I have sinned. It has been two weeks since my last bike ride....
....but, in fairness, we've had some **** weather followed up by a short family trip to South Dakota. Speaking of which, here's a vacation photo dump, small sized so as to not side scrolly the page -

Nice pics WhyFi.
We had a soaker of a ride today. The forecast was for some fog/mist/drizzle, which we had, but there was also plenty of real rain. Luckily it was not too cold (60-ish) but it was quite wet.

This weather has been sucking. 55 degrees wet and windy every morning. Today dense fog was added and for fun pouring down rain at one point. None of which was predicted. Supposed to be overcast zero wind.
Going down my steep drive way this morning, my front brake sounded terrible. I think the pads are finally done. Just picked up a replacement for the front.
New rotors should be arriving in the next couple of weeks. Couldn’t get the ultegra in 160, doing with the next model down.

Gorgeous pics. I’ve driven through SD and regret not taking time to see some of the sights.
If it makes you feel any better, it’s been rainy and gray in New England for too long now too. Where was this rain when we needed it over the summer?? This has the makings of a very wet and snowy winter. Time to dust off the trainer…

There is a ton of stuff to see in the Black Hills area: Rushmore, Badlands, Devils Tower, Deadwood, etc, etc, etc. Can easily spend a week or so in the area.
