Nice! I used to ride in a cotton t-shirt and a helmet like that, but my spare tubular was folded tighter and in a sock and my Silca matched the frame color.
. From the bike, a Viner Stella Pro, it would be 1984 or 1985. So much going on in this pic. Tubulars. Brancali helmet, t-shirt, Silca pump, etc.

Speaking of cars, we had a Saturn scare yesterday. It would not start. It cranked and cranked but would not catch. It had gone below freezing and there was only 1 gallon of fuel in the tank, so I got a ride to work from mrs datlas and a ride home from daughter #1. When I got home, I tried to crank it and it still would not catch, but I tried the "cold flood start" trick (accelerator to the floor) and it started right up. I filled the fuel tank and it worked fine this morning. My best guess is there was a smidge of (frozen) water in the fuel system that caused the problem.
Any comments??

We had a Grand Cherokee at one time. It was reliable, but there were things I didn’t like about it. I’ve enjoyed the Wranglers.

Next question on Mrs. Peel (the Lotus Supreme I just did the bar wrap on) - how far do I go for authenticity? Originally, it came with a brown suede Kashimax Super Pro saddle. I found one on Ebay for twice what I paid for the bike! And I ain't gonna pay that kind of money for something I might hate. Here's a pic from the 1981 Lotus catalog - not in Navy like mine, but in the other color, which they called "Violet" "Lotus Pink".
BUT, the saddles are similar to the old San Marco Concor, which I can find new in brown smooth leather, or used in brown suede. The current saddle is a Concor derivative, which I got to replace the Concor Superleggera that I got with the bike, but one of the solid aluminum rails broke (apparently how these meet their demise). I think a new brown Concor would look sweet!

I got the Concor like the pic I posted. I know I can ride that. I've never tried a Flite, and the Concor was $50 cheaper.

The thing I had was lifted and on 33 inch tires. With 2.74 gears it could cruise 65mph in second gear. Gas mileage was abysmal but people will get out of your way. I used it like a truck and did some 4 wheelin' with it. We used it to get our Christmas trees in the mountains. Just buy a $2 permit and cut any tree with a blue marker. Also used it to fetch firewood.

All the theory I have is that - some condensation freezes and the fuel is blocked until it thaws. I can't speak to accuracy, but a friend of mine had those exact symptoms in upstate NY with a mostly-empty tank parked outside on a deeply sub-freezing day.
