Ride already done. I guess 30 miles is my new norm. Sigh.

Also, rode the emonda this morning. Not sure what was going on. Set out to do a zone 2 ride but for some reason it was requiring way too much effort to go any where. Sections of road where I usually average 20-22 mph at 140 watts was taking 190 watts to go 16 mph. Maybe my garmin unit was reporting the wrong speed? Speed sensor is on a different bike.
Felt like I was working too hard for the what I was getting out of it for the first 10-12 miles or so.
Shifting has gotten worse, no more pedal squeak but now, on hills, sounds like the BB is creaking.

You may keep the polka dots for awhile. The threat of rain made me scratch todays ride so it will be fake miles in the basement today.

I've come to approach the signs in the car the same way I do on the bike--if there's no one close I don't want to completely stop and kill all my momentum.
The real facepalm is that after the first sign when I looked back I thought the front of the car behind me kind of looked like a police car. But then it drifted back a ways by the time I got to the second. I guess he was trying to entrap me!

I can't see my own post. Happens intermittently with YouTube stuff. I don't know the fix.

I have bloodwork at 8 AM Friday morning. The catch is it takes about two hours to get there (I will take the combi, as I refuse to drive morning rush hour, and a taxi once in the city). It's only an eight hour fast instead of the usual 12, so I'm thinking about getting up at midnight for a cup of coffee, in the hope that it will still be with me as 8:00 approaches. It may keep me up for a little while, but certainly not all night.

So I'm driving home after an invigorating band practice. In a residential area. Almost no one else on the roads there, it being after 9 p.m.
I reach the straightaway leading to the main road when suddenly police lights go off behind me.
I had gotten busted for not completely stopping at the stop sign. (two, actually).
As I sat waiting for him to process my information, I couldn't help but think of the unfairness of the world. I was getting a ticket for that on empty streets, when I see so much speeding and otherwise unsafe driving out there every day?
He came back and gave me a warning only. My perfect driving record is still intact.

I gave it the old college try, to untangle that chain. There is such a tiny space between the inner chainring and the stay that it had to go through on the ring. And there were two bits of chain in there. Very easy to just break it, disentangle it, and re-attach it. Some(all?) of you would be disgusted by the quantity of gunk on that chain. I actually considered cleaning it while it was apart, and next thing I know I'm putting it back together. It's a town bike. The rest of the town bikes in this town get no maintenance at all. When the brakes fail, feet are dragged. Chains are quite rusty. Bbs don't squeak but rather clunk, on each revolution. No one sneaks up behind me on a bike.

i ready for bed, exhausted. So my alarm was set for 330 am. Simon woke me up at 224 am and I actually felt okay. I should have gotten up then, but noooooo I went back to sleep. When my alarm did go off it took me forever to get going.
So for me to do a century, I would have to set my alarm for 2 am and hope to be clipped in by 245 am.

In my business, we don't like unexplained things, but that's because my business involves finding explanations. Both our businesses, of course, involve a lot of troubleshooting, and if the problem merely ENDS, you haven't really shot the trouble, so to speak. Still, not having the trouble is in improvement over having it!

Dang, so cheap! Wish they had places like this at this kinda price out here. Points off for being 2-story. 10000 bonus points for being on a brick road. Wonder how life is in Jamestown, NY. I see it's the home of the National Comedy Center AND the Lucille Ball/Desi Arnaz Museum...

So, nice house, but there's a reason it's only $90K.
