When I first moved to northern California a few years ago I went to the San Francisco bay area, but the closest big city in California to where I live now is Sacramento and I've been exploring its environs some lately because I don't really know the area all that well. I was down in the lowlands riding earlier today and took this pic of Folsom Lake, which is not far away from Sacramento.

Took a night ride, to beat the heat and stopped for a break at a park that overlooks the Great South Bay.
That's looking south to Jones Beach (north side).
With a flash.

Lake Casitas
Did a Channel Islands Bike Club ride today from Ventura, CA up past Lake Casitas to Ojai and back. Only 34 miles, but several challenging hills. Here's the lake, finally with a little water, and the "water feature" with my Culprit Croz Blade. Pretty warm up in Ojai, approaching 90. I know, wrong side of bike. I wasn't thinking Bikeforum rules when I took the picture. I'll turn it around next time.

This Morning at Thompson Lake
My latest project is a Peugeot PFN10 Velo de Ville (aka city-bike or "townie"). While she's not quite finished, I took her out for a shakedown this morning around Thompson Lake:

Threw my bike in the car on work trip, and took a longish lunch break south of Milwaukee.

The mountain bike over on Catalina Island. That is Shark Harbor, on the back side of the island.
