1993 Specialized Hard Rock

Looking for suggestions on improvements I should/could make to this bike. Still rides/looks great. Bought a new seat for this summer but other than that, all parts original. Are there any typical equipment upgrades I should consider? I'm looking to put in 50-100 miles per week this year so nothing monumental like most of you. Thanks in advance.

not really. i know that's a pat answer, but it's kinda the truth. if your drivetrain and brakes are working satisfactorily there's nothing really to improve upon given your stated usage. i mean, it works!! what could be better? otoh, salmon kook stop brake pads are always an "upgrade"

a good time to consider upgrading is when the crucial parts...like derailleurs, wheels, cranks, etc....start failing. plenty of folks upgrade their old road/mtn bikes to modern drivetrains. but, they replace nearly everything except the frame in order to do so.

bear in mind, there are still 7 speed parts on the market for you bike should you simply need to repair...whether vintage or brand new

If you're planning on doing 100 miles a week on pavement, get yourself some 26 x 1.25 or 1" slicks, and some bar ends. That'll speed those miles up.

Very good idea on the tires. My miles are mostly pavement but certainly have the railbed ground gravel as well. Very helpful!
