Strange things about an old Raleigh

I’m currently refurbishing an ‘82 Raleigh Record Ace. The previous owner bought it in ‘84 and has not changed anything “except the tyres”.

I polished the cranks yesterday and then noticed that the cranks are different lengths…

It also looks as if the bars were wrapped asymmetrically in the factory. This isn’t the only RRA I’ve seen like this…

Friday afternoon bike or what????

Glad you caught the diff cranks! Last time I missed that on a bought bike my knees paid dearly for it.

We would love to see a full shot of your RRA!

The seller remembered things incorrectly. The shorter crankarm has an August 1987 date code, while the longer crankarm is from January 1982.

Edit: That should be September, not August.

LOL, it wouldn't surprise me, he was 89 when he sold it to me.
