Hey thanks guys,

Kabuki12 , I sent you a PM.

SwimmerMike , Since mine is English thread, I'm going to see if I can work something out with Kabuki12, though I realize that an Italian hub can be force-fit to an English freewheel.

@davester - I think you were planning on doing the nor-cal ride. If so, and you end up needing the hub, let me know and I'll bring it along. If you want, you can have it as a spare. All my wheels are built up with Record hubs so I have no need for this.

@davester, Bummer about the cracked hub. I would definitely replace it before your ride down to Cambria. I'm curious how many miles it might have left and what results would follow a catastrophic failure, but you are too handsome and wise to try to find out. I see you've already got some offers, but I can hook you up with a Record hub if needed. PM if interested.

Wow! That's the nicest looking Tipo I've ever seen. I've never seen one remotely new and I've been seeing them since probably late '70s and riding a high flange front my brother gave me ~1985. Not in regular service now but still ready to go for a ride any time. I always just assumed they left the factory with 15 years of riding on them.

This is just a sign you need to go to record hubs.

I don't recall ever seeing Tipo HF hubs with sausage slots. Mine have round holes. And, for the record, Mothers Polish is my go to . The thing is, you can get them that nice and they stay that way for quite a while! Now, go out and get that thing dirty! Joe

@Kabuki12 - They were found on several French bikes. These were standard on the 1972 Motobecane Le Champion, pictured.

Glad to hear you're swapping it out, I won't be bringing my torch.

I have the expected version too, 1972 Bottecchia Giro d'Italia upgraded to the Professional.
