Schwinn Traveler late 1980's

I am asking here as I did not have the knowledge of bikes I have now when I bought my first decent road bike. It was a Schwinn Traveler 12 spd I got used about 1992. It was sort of an aqua/green color and had downtube shifters but standard brakes, not the duel levers on the tops. In any case I think this bike a real steel bike not aluminum and while it is heavy compared to what I ride now, it did not make that much difference in the flatlands.

I remember this bike riding pretty smooth and well but wonder what anyone here thinks of these bikes. For whatever reason I want to get a steel bike and thought about looking for one of these again. I am crazy or did these particular Travelers actually ride well

You must be talking about the '87. I bought one last winter for $20. Currently stripped down waiting for a repaint. Very nice riding bikes, quality tubing.

Yes! That is my bike although mine was probably bigger seemed to be about 25 inch frame I am 6'2 and frankly I thought for a Schwinn it was pretty good. Can you find me another?

You should post a WTB ad in the Classic and Vintage Sales thread. There are lots of members on here who hold the Schwinn True Temper and Columbus frames in high regard, myself included.

I have a 25" 1986 Schwinn Prelude with Columbus tubing. If you're interested in that one let me know. I could sell it complete or just the frame.
