Railroad bridge in East Peoria IL. Just off the bike trail.

Not my ride but the photo turned out well so thought I would post it here. This bridge spans the Potomac river at Brunswick, MD.

Photos taken on initial shakedown ride (hence no bar tape on the Bianchi, cables that need to be trimmed and capped, etc) but they meet the bike on bridge criteria....

This is the Trestle Bridge between Royersford and Spring City, PA. For ages it has been an abandoned rail bridge and has been overhauled to be a pedestrian and cycling bridge. It was just opened recently and is a very nice addition to the trail system around here. Not a big addition but every addition is good and creates options on a ride.
41degF this morning and the sun right behind me for this snap.
Not so lazy river given all the rain we've had lately. But spring is "making a go of it". Schuylkill River heading southeast to the sea.
The bike is my Ersatz Gran Prix, covered from 27" to 700c wheels last fall. I'm running 700x38 tires and I like the ride. Good gravel bike. Yup it weighs 32lbs as shown but that just makes for better cardio on a ride. I'm thinking it may be just the thing for an end to end round trip on the Northern Rail Trail in NH this summer. Hmmmmm?

I can't count how many times I've used that tunnel!
For a while, it was part of my commute to work, so I got to enjoy it year round.
Before a recent change, water would run down over the entrance and freeze into giant icicles and create a sheet of ice at the entrance.
Not a very safe scenario!
There was one morning (in the dark) when there had been a heavy rain. The stream adjacent to the tunnel is slightly lower than the tunnel, but with the rain, water was overflowing the stream and running through the tunnel. At the north side, where it is lower, the water in the tunnel was a few inches deep. I still rode through it, but was probably muttering curses the whole way.

For a while, it was part of my commute to work, so I got to enjoy it year round.
Before a recent change, water would run down over the entrance and freeze into giant icicles and create a sheet of ice at the entrance.

OK, so a small one but a bridge nonetheless near McMinnville, Oregon. Also a two-fer since this is brown and gold bike month. I blew a winter’s worth of sawdust off my ‘86 High Sierra to take it out for some sunshine today.

Learning To Fly
My Peugeot folder on a pedestrian bridge spanning Carroll Creek in downtown Frederick Maryland. Likely the last ride and photo for this bike. Someone finally answered my CL ad and is coming to purchase in a few hours. Fingers crossed.

Ped bridge over Middle Rouge River along Hines Dr.
in Detroit 1969 the River Rouge caught fire when a worker dropped a torch in the river.
this pic is way upstream of that.

^^^^^ Spent much of my youth not far from the Rouge, either in Dearborn or in Westland. Never knew about the fire. Back then there were no ped bridges over the river. Winter 1974-ish, I tried crossing it once where it appeared frozen solid. It, uh, wasn't.

New W&OD bridge by Reston metro finally getting started after YEARS of planning. Dangerous crossing because it's back a ways from the traffic signal. From the driver's POV bikes come out of nowhere.

April 2024 UPDATE:
The big lift happens on the night of April 12th when a single huge crane will lift the main span into place. Workman said the bridge will probably open in June and that "It will be nice."
The side ramps are almost finished and today they started assembling the steel span
As we watched the steel lift off the truck I asked: "How do you know where the balance point is?"
"Same way you do," he said. "We make our best guess and lift it a little. If it tilts we move the ropes."
The truss is in four pieces. Two halves of one end are being bolted & welded together today. The other end gets assembled tomorrow (Wed. April 3)
The 100 ton truss will be held in position by 4 bolts on each side (!!)

Well, at the bridge, not sure where the "on" pics are ATMO. 
Bridge of the Gods, Cascade Locks OR, open grate over the mighty Columbia.
A little squirrelly with just the right amount of pucker factor.
The big silver Merz lived here when it was made, it was built for the locks manager who I bought it from.
Its time for another ride across it soon.
