Ooookay, then. I've done all I can do here. It's obvious that no suggested solution will be acceptable, so it's silly to keep offering them. Enjoy your bike, improperly adjusted though it may be.

I collected an additional piece of information this morning. Both bikes being considered here have taught FD cables when the FD is at its leftmost position. Neither is slack nor loose. I can't yes say which cable is the tighter as that's pretty subjective and I was no my way out the door for work.

Yes, and of course you can't resist taking a cheap shot at me on your way out.
I find it sad, and woefully dysfunctional, how many senior people on this forum have egos that render them unable to tolerate any dissent maturely. It tends to make this a very unwelcoming place for new members.
I don't (yet) want to modify my functioning bike as you suggest because I'm currently riding it 4-6 times per week. I'll do some trial and error stuff when the season is over. Is that sooo unforgiveable? It's no refutation of your expertise.
If there was an ignore list function that would allow me to exclude all "senior" people from any of my threads, I'd be pushing that like a madman. 80% of the senior people are great but the 20% who aren't sour things something fierce.
