I've never seen anything but English on a low level Schwinn.

...you're probably right. Schwinn had so much market share that they could pretty much dictate what they wanted from the component guys.

One of the nice things about the Schwinn-braned Atom freewheels is that there are plastic seals to prevent contamination of the internal mechanism:

No less an authority than Sutherland's Handbook for Bicycle Mechanics (6th edition) classifies the FR-4 as a "Class A" fit with the splined Atom freewheel, along with Atom's own tool, Phil, Zeus, VAR, and others:

I prefer to have my freewheel removing tool have as much surface area as possible in contact with the freewheel.

Schwinn always used English thread freewheels. Older Atom freewheels indicate English thread with a rectangular punch mark on the back of the body; later production explicitly marked on the back of the body.

And that's fine.

One advantage of the square-profile tools is that it makes them more tolerant of the manufacturing variations Sutherland warns of.

The FR-4 tool has been shown in this thread by experts to be a authorized correct tool for this freewheel. You are in denial.
When a thread goes over 100 posts for s FW removal, it's a TROLL.
ignore list.
