Hello everyone, I’m really freaking out, I bought my first carbon road bike some weeks ago, and when I removed the back wheel today, I found thad the frame was a little bit worned out and probably delaminated on the inside of the handle (I can put a very thin paper sheet on one of them)
I think I put WAY too much pressure on the QR…
What could I do ? Is it safe enough to put some epoxy in the cracks on the inside of the drops ?

going to need pics I think for a reasonable diagnosis. Never heard of this happening so I would also check with the shop if the bike is new might be a mfg defect.

You didn't say what bike......very curious.

It's an "Origine" bike, it's a french company.

From the way the paint goes around the edges I wonder if the original bond might have been less than perfect, especially if both sides have similar appearance. I think that someone knowledgeable who can put hands and eyes on the frame should be consulted.

I don't think you did that with the qr skewer, and I also don't think it's a problem. But if you are worried, take it into the shop (where you bought it) and have them look it over.

No expert, but to me a non-issue. It looks like it dug through the paint a little, which I don't think is uncommon.

It appears to me to be a manufacturing defect, quality control issue.

I too would have the shop look at it. My carbon frame has marks but nothing that bad, but the paint coming off in that area is a normal thing. have an expert look at it but probably just the frame layup and it is what it is?

It only looks like thick paint being scrubbed off. Have you tried hitting it with a screwdriver or some such. If there is delamination, it will not sound as "taut" as a solid piece of CF. It will then sound more like a "thud" rather than "thonk" (yes, that's the closest I can come in writing).

Aren't those end pieces made of some alloy, which is then inserted into carbon stays some distance away from where the QR attaches?

I believe my bike didn't have the paint where the QR grips or where the axle rests in the end-piece. It was covered before paint was applied.

You probably look at the 'crack' like depression, I think that's a flaw in casting that end-piece which they spray painted over but I'd say, nothing to worry about. In any case, like in comments above, I don't believe you did that with QR. For piece of mind, you can have the shop look at it.

It's likely nothing. Don't do any "fixing" of it yourself. Wait until you hear back from whomever you bought the bike from and whomever manufactured it. Let us know what they said.

Sorry, 1 year later I forgot to answer ; the manufacturer told me everything was fine, and after all those months of riding, everything is great
