We used to joke about the billboard jerseys some guys wore. And then we were paid for the billboards on our bikes. The money was the only reason for it. I sponsor a race car and the space I have on the viewer's side of the car is a thirty minute commercial every time it goes on the track. To me it is advertising money for the brand on the side of the bike. Cyclist unwittingly do this easy advertising for manufacture's or distributors by riding with the decals and logos plastered all over the bike. The smart rider gets paid for the items on the side of the bike. The professional riders are on advertising bikes because they get paid to ride them. The rider's don't get a choice in the matter, but they do get paid.
We also call out the stickers on the bikes/cars as "Kentucky go fasters!" only because Kentucky is the local downcast state from Indiana. If a person wants to advertise for a particular product they should be allowed to do so, however it doesn't make the bike any better for the ride or ride quality. If done for aesthetics, that is fine as well but only for the person who owns it. Smiles, MH

I think it would look better without the stickers

Thanks for the honest replies everyone. Got some suggestions on other aspects like the tires and bottle cages I will definitely think about. I'm not going to alter the frame or fork graphics, the paint and decals are too good for being 30 years old to mess with but everything else is fair game at this point.

two wheels only
Another option might be to only remove part of the rim stickers, perhaps leaving only the "Vuelta". I think that rim logos look OK on a modern bike but do not work with a vintage bike. I recently pulled the Ksyrium stickers off of a set of wheels I am putting on a '93 Serotta and the bike looks much better without it.

Since you are playing with Photoshop, you might try changing the color of your cable housing, bar tape and/or saddle. I think that a splash of color would look good.

Took awhile but I toned it down some. Have it for sale too. I like the bike, a LOT, especially with the new look but I need room and I figured with the brifters this might sell easier than some of the others. No tears will be shed if it doesn't sell however.

I like the de-stickered wheels. Good call (and what I would have voted for had I seen this thread when you first started it.).
GLW(NMA)S (good luck with not making a sale )

Thanks. This version doesn't have me looking for the dimmer switch after 5 minutes LOL. Given the current local market I foresee it being around awhile, it appears I'm the only one around here buying tall vintage road bikes right now.
