Late 80's Raleigh 531C Sample Frame Build
I have numerous period appropriate Raleigh builds (and a lot of bikes that look exactly the same to the non-enthusiast) so I decided to go a little different with this one (especially as it had been cold set already when I received it). This is a very odd frame picked out of the Northwest (proximity to Raleigh's USA stomping grounds). The S/N is "SAM2", and otherwise a run of the mill UK built 531c Frameset (as shown at the back of the catalogs at the time). The consensus was that this was likely a sample/prototype sent to Raleigh USA late in the 80's. I went with a full R7000 105 Groupo with a gunmetal 3TTT bar and stem. I like the way she turned out, but can always reverse the neo-retro treatment...
