WTB Suntour 32t freewheel cog
I am posting and wondering if something like this is available. I came into a used Trek with a Suntour perfect 14, 16, 19, 23, 27, 30 on it. Kinda a strange setup on the 27-30. I was thinking a 32 large would give nice even spacing. I’ve never torn a freewheel apart, but am willing to learn.

You could do that, but it's a lot of messing around and you probably won't save much money. I would think it would be a lot easier to buy a 14-32 freewheel. Then you'd have a spare as well.

That is probably correct, but thought I would check and see if this was a readily available orphan item. I also thought it would be interesting to learn a vintage shop skill too.

Taking a suntour freewheel apart is easy enough. You either need a freewheel vice or you can do it on the bike. I don't have a vice and I take them apart on the bike using a chain whip. steelbikeguy and pastorbobnlnh know a lot about suntour freewheels and can likely tell you what you need.

Never thought to take apart on the bike. I’ve seen pics of guys mounting them to benches and such. I thought I could do that too. I have read Sheldons article too. I will wait and see if anything pops up. The gear steps on that 14-30 look kinda interesting with it converted to a 14-32. Perhaps someone has a freewheel with bad internals and the 32t too.

I my have a spare 32t cog - I'll check my stash later. But those 27t cogs are cool - I've built up a 13-27 freewheel for a bike with Campy Record derailleurs that didn't quite jibe with a 28t, even with dropout spacing adjustments.
