Does "DNB" by any chance stand for "Do Not Build" with these components?
Does the RD say "Made in India" or is it some other country?

DnB stands for Dai nippon Bicycle, a Tokyo based manufacturer of bicycles and bicycle components that dates back to circa 1916-1919, depending on the referenced source. By all accounts, they became a major manufacturer in the domestic Japanese industry during the inter-war period. Post-war, they started manufacturing derailleurs and by the time of the introduction of the subject derailleurs, the brand had been bought out by (or the company name changed to) Dainihon Kikai Kogyo.
The subject rear derailleur is the Model 66, introduced for the 1966 model year and produced into at least the mid-1970s. It's design is obviously influenced by the Huret Svelto while the front derailleur is reminiscent of the Campagnolo Gran Sport. This rear derailleur was often paired with a DnB hub that was an early unit/freehub design. Given that the rear wheel has a quick release skewer and the front has a nutted axle, I'm wondering if the freehub proved proved problematic and the rear wheel replaced?
DnB manufactured bicycles were generally marketed under the cleverly named Danube brand which, if you eliminate the vowels, spells DnB. Derailleurs were also marketed under the Danube brand, Based on old advertisements, bicycle manufacturing appears to have been discontinued by the time that the Model 66 rear derailleur was introduced. The frame's serial number may provide a clue to the bicycle manufacturer and actual year.

DNB is the brand name of Dainihon Kikai Kogyo, a Nippon enterprise -

at the beginning of the bike boom a bobtail truck would roll up to a vacant lot in my area and begin selling these bicycles in the carton out the back of the truck
they were quite common to encounter "in the field" due to price
EDIT:
Oops! See T-Mar posted while I was composing. His information always lightyears better. Will leave message up for the peechas.

In modern world DnB is the spelling of Drum and Bass music genre.

Those are all USA brands. The marketing companies that owned them simply chose to the source the bicycles from Japan (and later Taiwan). Basically, the USA marketing companies used whatever source got them the best value for their target price points. Through the 1970s it was typically Japan, In the early 1980s they started sourcing some entry level models from Taiwan, then the mid-1980s revaluation of the Yen caused further offloading to Taiwan that increased throughout the late 1980s.

I do not recall ever getting one of those RD's to actually shift when brought into the shop. 100% replace-the-derailleur.

If those derailleur sets are so bad, you can just send them to me. I'd love to have one in my collection.

IIRC, I have had one of their five speed freewheels in my hands. It was not sent for service but came in a box with other more worthy freewheels. It's probably in storage at the moment and will not be "recovered" until the Spa is fully opened.
