tour de France for women
hello peoples: I just recently heard they have one and I do believe it's starting soon. Do they do everything the men do? Is it the same course? If it's on the tube I'd like to tune in for a bit.

A quick Google could have answered all your questions, but yes, a Women's Tour de France. Eight stages starting after the Men's final stage.

I think it'll be a cracking addition to the Women's race calendar and I'm looking forward to watching it!

Two of my buddies are riding ahead of the caravan, one of them owns this racing team. She posted these pics on strava yesterday. Their new jerseys are going to look sweet with those bikes, they are pink with that blue checkerboard thing like the bus. the race starts today right?

WTF does "IBBY" mean?
I Googled it, the only thing I found was "I'll be blasting you", which doesn't make any sense either. Maybe it's just some random arcane bit of knowledge added in an attempt to show that the poster is "with it" in some sense?

I watched stage 1 yesterday and it was pretty good. Stage 2 today was good also. After watching each race replay during the TDF, is it the same caliber of racing? No, but these women give a whole new meaning to Girl Power. They compete hard and aren't afraid of speed or risky moves. The sprint at the end was just like the men's albeit they weren't going as fast. It's pretty fun to watch actually.

Hoping for an explanation for that as well. Urban dictionary has a number of contradictory definitions, none of which seem to fit the context.

It's an acronym for "something distinctive to distract and keep people from realizing that I'm a third-generation sock puppet."

It's on as Peacock. Watching stage 3 now.
Worth at least Peacocks free trial price.
130 & some odd riders in the Peloton.
So far more interesting than the mens.
Will be watching again next year.

rsbob,
Peacock for me too. I'm not a fan of Peacock but they have both the US and the World coverage for the TDF Men's. The TDF Femmes is turning out to be a pretty good watch. Agree with Base2 that it may be more interesting than the men's. These women are real competitors and to see them crash, get injured, jump back on the bike bleeding with grit and determination, they're tough.
My only quibble is that the profile photos they show of the riders are really, really bad, not flattering at all.

Haven’t paid real close attention to the TdF Femmes, but looking at the stage profiles…particularly yesterday’s stage 3 (7/26)…wondering if the criteria for the categorized climbs is the same as for the men? In that stage, there is a Cat 4 that is only 700m long @ 7%. That seems a bit small even for a Cat 4.

I’m really digging some of the kits the women’s teams have, Canyon SRAMs is sweet.
That stage with all the gravel today was nuts too.

Just watched stage 4. These women are killin' it!
The dust, the dirt, the grime, getting hit by your own team car, getting creamed by another rider at speed while you get a wheel swap, face plants into rocks just to shrug it off until the medical car pulls you out. Riding a solo TT for 20km to a stage win by minutes? That's just today!
Yesterday was a finish line sprints so strong over the cobbles the bike hopped sideways as much as forward...from 4th place no less! Who could've seen that comin'?
Passion & drive. Excellent teamwork & cooperation. This is genuinely exciting.
This ain't the mens race.
Good.

There's one thing that I have noticed about the Femmes TDF and the Men's TDF is that, if one of the women riders crashes, they jump right back on their bike and keep on pounding! Many of the men lay down on the ground playing it up, rubbing their booboo and acting all hurt, trying to figure out if they hurt, then get back on their bike. I think the men could take a queue from the women.
