The guy was a bit of a trip. I dropped my son at O'Hare, he is going to New York for a few gigs so it was only another 80 miles to get the bike. Definitely the lightest mixte I've ever lifted.

How much would you say it weighs? Your son a guitarist too?

I don't have a scale but it's plenty light. Aaron is a bassist, guitarist, drummer, keyboard and vocalist who makes me jealous with his natural ability. I may be biased but he's a monster musician... Also a bike mechanic.

definitely worth it just to get those CLB guidonnets

their triangular cross-section makes them quite rigid

wrt MAFAC Competition -

our gugieficazione perpetrator has posted that this is his favorite centrepulll model from the manufacturer

bonus points that the quatre vingt dix-neuf is first generation

How tall is the frame? It does seem to be in nice shape!
You need it. Just think how high you can pile stuff on the back rack, no need to worry about swinging a leg over.

You get any information from the seller about how he came to own such a unique mixte? Was he the original owner??

appeance of an apparent temporal contradiction...

think of model ninety-nine as launching in '74 as that is the first year we saw it in n. america

however, it could have easily launched domestically in '73

the model of Juy shift lever worn by the cycle was discontinued about nineteen-seventy one

could always be a case of using up the parts in the bins...

alternately, it could have been originally kitted with a different model of Verot chainset which got changed to this present set...

the model of Criterium rear gear mech fitted to the cycle had also been superseded by the time of the ninety-nine's launch

there is a chance that the Luxe Competitions worn by the machine may be just early enough to manifest oil hole clips rather than gold foil transfers

Very nice bike ! From the era when bikes were more individualistic rather than copy after copy from one source overseas. Classic !

Not sure, found a couple of old threads where they were made and pretty sure I can come up with a workaround.

May not be elegant and I know it would have to be robust enough to instill confidence.

I have a couple sets of Comps that don't need them but have given it a lot of thought.

I have two sets now and I think they are both safe to ride but just wondered. That's really the only thing I see about them as problematic. Oddly enough both bikes with those brakes are eventually getting three speed hubs laced to 700c rims. Gonna be a while before I get there but I'm looking forward to the rides. Also the brake levers are really quite solid. Should be a good braking bike.
