What year?

Hi All,
I have a Peugeot Carbolite Premiere 103 10 gear road bike and wish to find out the year of manufacture.
Under the crank shaft is a serial number R509 29690.
Can any one help please, thanks in advance
Steve

Welcome to the forums, I've never seen a Peugeot serial number that started with an 'R'. Typically, it's a 'B' or "Y'. Regardless, your frame dates from September 1985. That's in the grey region where it could be a 1985 or 1986 model but I'd be leaning towards the latter. According the to the catalogues, the main difference between 1985 and 1986 was that the latter was upgraded with internal rear brake cable routing.

What year

Thank you T-Mar, I have tried for over a week on various sites and googled the question with no joy.
The letter could be the letter B as were and tear through the years have attacks it.
Regards
Steve

thank you, had the bike since the 80’s , not used it since 2013, got myself a newer bike from Decathlon which I used for London to Brighton and the inaugural London to Birmingham ride, so it got relegated, used it as a training bike !
