Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

2009 Kestrel RT900

I ride a 2009 Kestrel RT900 w/Sram Red components (w/exception of DA chain and Ultegra cassette). In have custom 38mm carbon tubulars with Sapim Cx-Rays and Bitex hubs (288grams/set) - 1180 grams for the set. Total weight w/cages and pedals in about 15.1 pounds.

This bike is way more bike than I am a rider, but I love it.

I like. I thought of doing this because this bike fits my overall riding style. Chip/seal roads that turn to dirt to pavement but would use sometimes in a triathlon.

Any cons with this setup.

none whatsoever! i built this bike for that exact reason, i wanted an all around bike to ride in any condition. i started looking at cyclocross bikes to buy, then realized that i had what i needed right in my garage. picked up some brifters, drops and canti-brakes and voila! i'm still waiting on planet bike cascadia full fenders for it (another bonus is that its got all the fender eyelets!), after i put those on, it'll be perfect!

i did end up spending a little more than what i wanted, the seatpost and wheelset were an impulse buy...

edit: those are 25mm gatorskins, they are perfect for this setup.

I am assuming you needed a new stem too? My bike came with an adjustable stem and the bars I switched to required larger opening. I went with 32mm Specialized Infinities for all purpose riding and touring (they are awesome in the rain) but I obviously went with the barcon setup which made it much cheaper.

New bike! Got a CRAAAZY deal from an awesome mechanic at school, so couldn't say no. Pictures taken after a day spent riding on a muddy field practicing body contact, so please ignore any dirt/grass. can't wait to race this beast.

Cervelo S1, Ultegra/DA kit, SLK Light cranks.

TY Very first bike build. I got a white Prologo saddle on its way (picked up from departmentofgoods.com). I changed the stem to a Thomson X2 to match the Thomson Masterpiece.

Maybe a white bartape. I just hate the thought of getting it dirty and having to change it (i'm lazy)

Does Kestrel make a seatpost with more setback? It looks like you could use one.

Hello to all, im new to the forum and to the road cycling world. I used to ride bike when i was 8 years old from town to town in a little road bike i got from the parents. After over ten years i'm getting back into it and need a little help updating myself. I got a bike from a friend and i need some help identifying the parts it has and some good online stores to get parts and accessories from. One last thing, can you guys tell me what type of cleat i need for my shoes? Thanks a lot for any and all help!

Yeah its pretty weird but light as hell, any idea what brand the frame is? I do know i need to get the cleats for my pedal, the question was what kind or fit are these pedals? Maybe I'm asking the wrong question so pardon me guys, im fairly new to the terminology used around here. Thanks again for your guidance.

It's a BP Stealth bike. They are a small company who mostly sell to triathletes. The pedals are Looks, fairly sure they take Delta cleats like these: https://www.rei.com/product/610474?pr...:referralID=NA
