Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Pretty color!

What model is that? I don't recall seeing that on Orbea's website.

How does it ride?

Thanks

Its actually an 05 Volata. It is brand new just left over stock at the LBS. Marked down to 1,000.

I took it out on a nice 15 mile loop and it was super nice. Trying to get used to the compact Double vs my other bike with the triple.

it's especially a good deal since the fit was pretty good on my first ride on it. i was a little concerned that the top tube was going to be on the long side for me, but that's not the case.

Allez Elite Triple 2007 . Curerntly undergoing a Dura Ace/ Ultegra upgrade with Specialized footing most of the bill for a huge crash because one of their mondo pro tires blew out on me . Soon will add a Tarmac Comp frameset to the herd after I figure out how much specialized is giving me on credit/discounts after the rebuild of my Allez is finished.

Here's my updated bike. I finally got around putting 7800 crankset I had laying in the box forever. I bought it used with no BB. I got a Rotor ceramic BB for next to nothing, so had to put on the crank. The bearings are much smoother than my old 6500 BB, but probably due to mileage.

Next on my list is to find a CR1 fork to get rid of the alum. steerer.

Anyway, on to the pic.

Specs:
Scott S40 frameset
DA 7700 group
DA 7800 crank/rings
Rotor ceramic BB with self aligning bearings
DA 7700 hubs/velocity deep-v rims
Specialized Toupe 143mm
Thomson post/stem

Hi,

OK, having seen the recent discussion on colors and color wheels and complementary colors -- is this too much red?

With race wheels

With training wheels

A closer view from above

Changes from last time I posted photos of this bike:
Reynolds DV46 UL wheels with Tufo S3 Lite tires
3T Rotundo Pro handlebars
Easton EA90 stem

Reynolds wheels replaced 2002 Zipp 303 wheels. I had broken a rear spoke and no one locally had a replacement in stock. One very trusted mechanic said that given the age of the wheels (6th season of racing) the likelihood of breaking more spokes from here on out was high. Mentioned it to the Mrs. and she said, "You probably need new wheels." She didn't have to say it twice.

The Ritchey WCS Classic bars were OK but the bend was a little tight for my hands. The 3T bars fit noticeably better. 3T is a 31.8 mm bar while the Ritchey is 26.0 mm so new bars meant new stem. BTW, did the handlebar change on my Look too.

Raced it this configuration at Manhattan Beach a few weeks ago and nothing fell off.

^ That Serotta is still one of my all time BF favorites... still lookin' good! (although those Reynolds rims debadged would look even sweeter ).

I recently went with the 3T Rotundo Pro's too and am really happy with them. They were a replacement for my nitto noodles that I somehow managed to bend the right side near the center of the bar Although I love the shape, I'm disappointed in the durability (never crashed on that side or anything either).

The stealth Bomber.
Picture is a shocker but the bike is a ripper.

Pedal Force RS Campy Record, Chorus mix and the Boras to finish it off.
Fork, stem, bars and post are all no name bits from Tawain that match the Rs carbon weave.

Below is a frame I picked up off ebay for $50.
Built the rest up of an 03 Cannondale R800 that I picked up after a mate crashed it for $300.
It wouldn'd owe me any more than $600 all up and it rolls brilliantly.

This is a sub $1k ebay special TT bike. I picked up this set of wheels for $250!!!

Got a track bike on the way, already got the frame and wheels so I hope to have it finished soon.
Love all the bike pics, keep em coming.

Here is a pic of my only road bike – a $10 yard sale purchase that has been fun to change-out the parts. I’ve been riding for the past two seasons in Pa and am completely hooked. I took a steel Giant Kronos with Exage 400 (that’s pre Sora/Tiagra for anyone newer to Shimano) and have changed out almost everything from the headset, the Bottom Bracket to the rear derailleur. The only think I’ve kept is the Exage front derailleur because it apparently works with the 10 speed crank – meaning the chain-guide cage isn’t too wide to push & pull the 10s chain between the 39 & 53 ring.
My goal is to keep the weight with pedals under 20lbs and am currently at 19.5!

https://pages.towson.edu/tgingeri/IMG_2861.jpg

Parts listing:

Crank – Dura-Ace 7800 53/39
Shifters – Ultegra 6600 double
Rear Derailleur – Dura-Ace 7800 double
Brakes – 105 Black series 5501-L
Performance Bike, Forte' all-carbon 1” fork
Ultegra 6620 SL pedals
Shimano WH-R500 wheels

I just got an '08 Fuji Roubaix Pro. All stock (105 & Ultegra) except for a longer stem and I got it for $790. It could almost qualify for the $750 and under thread......

Hi,

Nice looking Bianchi. I've always had a soft spot for that brand and I currently own three of them.

Took a look at your Velospace page and you have quite a large stable of bikes.
