A short 2 day Bustang adventure

Day 1: Rollins Pass https://ridewithgps.com/trips/134974760
Day 2: Switzerland Trail https://ridewithgps.com/trips/134974793

Colorado’s Bustang service allows me to cut off the boring climbing bits. This was a great 70 mile ride that only involved about 20 miles of climbing (15 in the beginning and 5 more inconveniently located along the way) with about 50 miles of just coasting. Of course coasting off-road is a bit more difficult than coasting on pavement.

Corona Pass (aka Rollins Pass) is on 30 mile old railroad route that was replaced in the 1920s with a 16 mile tunnel.

Even 150 years later there are still remnants of the railroad

Riflesight trestle. It was a loop that went over the trestle and then passed under in a tunnel. The tunnel collapsed many, many years ago.

Devil’s Slide Trestle 1 (there are 2 of them). They cling precariously to the mountain. I’ve driven over them 3 times and ridden over then numerous times.

1500 feet down to Boulder Creek

Panama Canal steam shovel in Nederland, CO. Only one in existence.

Switzerland Trail. Another old railbed that wanders through the foothills above Boulder, CO

I’m afraid I’m going to have to say no.

I wouldn’t even walk out on this the last time I stopped by Kootenai Falls near Libby, MT during a tour.

Vélez Blanco, great Andalucian place with a spectacular castillo and an intruiging mountain called la muela, the grindstone.

Vélez is most famous for it's arte rupestre, prehistoric signs and drawings found in caves around here. Two human figures stand out: friendly Indalo man, carrying a rainbow and El Brujo, the shaman, PG advised. I was on a little mission here: since I ran out of brujo stickers from my visit 5 years ago, I needed some new ones - new bike after all.

Old LHT

New Ogre. El Brujo brings decent protection with no small print whatsoever involved

Nice place, but the weather can be iffy in spring.

I'm in Morocco. The part of my brain that processes spectacular scenery is having one meltdown after the other.
