Heya,

title says it all I am looking for a 36 H silver rim for rim brakes below 500 g. All I can reliably get my hands on is a Mavic A319 but it's a hefty one at ~600g.
Any reccomendations? I am in Europe and trying to keep the cost down, so shipping from the US is not in the cards.

EDIT: Should've mentioned it should be a clincher not a tubular rim (and no carbon rim) - 700C..

Also not sure if they are available in your area but they are my go-to rim for all my vintage bikes. Look great, under 500g, and well made.

Best budget rims ever, Sun CR18. Maximum bang for the buck and they come in at 460g.

I think it's been well established that they don't weigh 460g, probably somewhere between 500-550g, but this also would be my choice. Silver 36h rims for a reasonable price and quality are becoming hard to get, there's the cr18 at the lower and at the higher pacenti brevet and tb14, a23, but choices in the middle have been squeezed out.

Nisi Sludi 390 - not cheap and needs a good wheel builder but 390 grams.
Frost silver, not cheap. But has an appearance very close to classic Mavic Module E. Styling.

I've built up two wheelsets recently using Velocity A23 rims and have been happy. Main bonus with these rims is the tubeless compatibility. I love having a tubeless setup on my 84 Univega touring bike, it means I can run supple tires without worrying about having to change a flat on the side of the highway with a fully loaded bike.

The Nisi Sludi 390 seems amazing - I am, howevre, not a good wheelbuilder but just starting out - Does that mean, it'd be hard getting them round & true? Price-wise they are the same as the H+SON but the weight is otherworldly

Seller ‘saveitfromlandfill’ on eBay sells Kinlin polished 36 hole double wall box section rims with a 20mm interior width for around $80 a pair plus shipping.
Ships worldwide, located in the UK, worth asking how much they weigh.

I’ve built a bunch of wheels with Kinlin rims and they’ve all been superb.

I'm running both (36H) with stainless spokes, they sure do look good, and none of that nasty anodizing.

I know that tubs would be lighter, but i need something reliable where i can do a road-side repair in the middle of nowhere. Tubs aren't that (to me)

eBay seller has them for $45 each in 32 or 36 hole drillings, $45 shipping within the US.
I built up a pair last year with Shimano 5800 hubs, really nice (but kinda heavy) touring wheels.

Amazing looking bike! Aren't rando's the best looking bikes? Pacenti's seem very nice. I have a possibility of getting H+ SON T14's. Does anyone have a picture where they have those rims on a bike? It's meant to be for this bike:

Same here. Put a set on my MX Leader this summer and plan to do the same on the Masi at some point.

Mavic A319 is a touring rim, 25mm wide. Is that what you're looking for? Touring rims don't come under 500 grams — Mavic Open Elite or Pro do, as 19 mm wide road rims. Ryde (formerly Rigida) has the ZAC 2000 rim in silver but most of their stronger rims are black. You may still be able to find some silver rims by former Belgian manufacturer Exal (ZX or MX 19). Another vote for TB14s, though to be honest, they are right at 500g in 32h form. 23mm wide externally. They'll look great on that bike, and with those tires. I have the same brown wall (different brand) colored tire and against the polished TB14s, it's a dynamite look. Brevets are also a 23mm rim and come in 50g lighter. TB14 wins the pretty/polish game.

I'll put a vote in for Sun M13 II rims. 464g officially, classic narrow 19-20mm external width, and classic profile. The CR18s are wider and beefier and have proven themselves, but to me they have never been elegant, and I very much appreciate elegant. If you like stuff prettier, it's worth a look. They are also not very expensive at all.

This is my 1985 Trek 620 on Donnelly 40mm tires and the aforementioned TB14s.
