What would you pay for a 2.2 park tool truing stand?

I'm in Alaska, things that don't fit in a flat rate priority mail box can be expensive because we can't really get them from the much bigger lower 48 market. When one of these popped up for $150 I committed to but it before even seeing it first. Witch worked out well, like new condition with a DT-3 rotor truing gauge attached.

I'm happy with what I paid, I'm just curious as to how much these can be found for on your neck of the woods.

So you are asking for our opinion AFTER you made a purchase that is otherwise final and irreversable?

(scratches head)

I don't touch obslete Park Tools.

A great example is the DAG-3. I use this tool every time I buy a bike (I sell bikes), and I can't imagine using a piece of crap DAG-2.2. Their official video channel will reveal differences.

Since you asked, I would dump and sell it off.

You did fine, to make a point I went to fleabay, checked sold used 2.2s and they had 12 listed that ranged from $194 to $394 shipped.

I paid $100 for mine (used) about 12 years ago and felt it was a good deal. Throw in inflation....
I went to the PARK website and downloaded the docs to center it etc.
I got it dead on 1st try.

read the post again, at no point I asked for an opinion, just curious as to what they go for in the lower 48. Why? Because while I'm happy with what I paid as it is cheap for Alaska, I am curious at what they go for down under.

If you think this is obsolete you would really hate my vintage bikes. None is younger than 25 and some are around 50.

Nope, not selling those either.

Ebay generally has the TS-2 for about $225 to $250. The TS-2.2 goes from $250 to $300. The DT-4 is another $50. You did well, grasshopper.

That sounds like a good deal, TBH. That's as nice of a workhorse stand as any assuming you don't regularly work on fat bike wheels with locknut spacing >175mm.

I only work on vintage stuff and the like. I don't see a fat bike in my future.

I am still making do with a TS2 and with adapters I can and have built many fat bike wheels with 197mm axles. That seems to be mostly in the past as fat bike wheels don't come through with near the frequency they did a few years ago, but if they make a resurgence , I will upgrade to the TS4.2 or whatever new iteration may have come along by then.

I use the old TS 2.2 is a wonderful truing tool, one that I have been using since the beginning of time. When I was trained in truing wheels the tire and tube always comes off the rim. The stand can easily handle 29er wheels with a tire mounted when used with the adapters for this. They can easily be made by a competent DIY type. Fat bike wheels that use the wide thru axles in general are a no go.

so . . . . if the responses were supported x internet searches of the tool, and the OP has internet . . . . nah. couldn't have been that simple. i dare suggest opinions were sought, not just numbers.

maybe a pat on the back for getting such a good deal?

worked for my response.

or is this what the kids call "humble-brag?"

i can never keep up with the new hip jargon.

gonna go listen to some 45s now, if i can only find that darn spider . . .

Paranoid much?

The question was simple and straightforward; I'm in a complete different market and fleabay is often not the best measure. So silly me for thinking that people in a bike mechanic section on a bike forum would know?

And bragging? I was of the impression that used they would be cheaper in the lower 48. Stuff is just more expensive up here.

Oh man, I got mine (TS-2) for free (hand-me-down from an ex-racer) almost 30 years ago and this year it fell victim to rust as the garage roof started leaking on it. I'm about to find out how much I'm willing to pay because nothing else looks good enough now.

You did well, I paid $125 a few months ago here on BF for a 2.0. Bought the base and the replacement "calipers" with the plastic covers
Tore it down, cleaned all the parts and lubricated it. Works really well. Very happy with the significant improvement over the Spin Doctor stand I have used for several years. The SD was way too flexible

I was only in Fairbanks for 2 years but as I recall things were much more expensive and something like a nice Park Tool to sell would be very rare. I recall food and utilities being a very high, housing not bad general goods were at a premium.
