Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

As a teen Chuck Norris impregnated every nun in a convent tucked away in the hills of Tuscany. Nine months later the nuns gave birth to the 1972 Miami Dolphins, the only undefeated and untied team in professional football history.

Hey there,

On this recent post showing your Synapse, what handlebars are those please? For some reason, on the closeup shot, I only see the bottom half of the pic.

Thanks.

Cannondale r700. All i can say about this amazing bike is wow. It's my first road bike and i am in love. Picked her up yesterday and got some well awaited time on it. Funny story how i got the money (had to refinance the car) but its well worth the extra years on the loan. INCREDIBLE!!!

Yeah r700! That's my bike too ... its too much bike for me, it complains I'm not going fast enough on flats.

I choose the bike over a flat screen tv.

Hello everybody! I've been reading the forums for a while, now I took the jump and registered. Nice bikes in this thread! This is my first road bike, I bought it at the beginning of the winter and only had the chance to ride it about ten times before the snow. I can't wait to take it out again!

This is my hybrid 1984 Schwinn Traveler. Last spring I replaced the handlebars (off an old Schwinn mountain bike) new chain, derailer, all cables, saddle and tires. It passed muster for the '2005 MS Ride to the Breakwater' this past August. She rides like the day I bought her.

Picked up a 1999 Specialized Allez Comp for $320 on eBay a couple of months ago. Here is what it looked like when I got it (I had already put new tires on it when I snapped this pic):

Here is what it looks like today:

Full Ultegra, rides like a dream!

Additions:

Fizik Poggio saddle
Cateye Astrale computer

My Ibis Sonoma

Picked up frame, fork (Kestrel EMS), HS (Chorus), bar and stem used, and full Ultegra group used separately. Wheels are handbuilt American Classic hubs on Open Pros (built by me). Flite seat, Thomson Post, Schwalbe tires. Bird on head tube is missing its tail but I can get a new one from Ibis if I want. Same with decals!

PS the Dura-ace single pivot caliper you can see is for sale (pair).

Raced my 481 for the first time yesterday. Rode the Masters 45+ and the Elite 3 races at the Torrance Criterium. The bike felt great. I felt OK.
