I have those Share the Road signs on a 4-lane shoulderless road in my area. I don't know how much the motorists pay attention to them, but I appreciate the effort as I'm frantically thru tons of cars

Public officials spend the most by far on repaving roads or widening them. Little is spent to maintain bridges or for public transport as there is far less money to be made from efficient modes of transportation for people and that is all that counts.

These signs are popping up on state roads near me (the North Shore of Massachusetts). Nice gesture, but I can't see any driver giving 4 foot clearance. In this photo, 4 feet is the distance from the telephone pole to the rear reflector of my Raleigh Sports.
Nice sign in Rockport, Massachusetts

One plaque used by some agencies under the Bicycle Allowed Use of Full Lane sign reads "Change Lanes To Pass". An example can be seen at https://www.google.com/maps/@33.5615...8192?entry=ttu
FHWA has so far declined to adopt this plaque into the national MUTCD.

Place teenagers doing dumb stuff, cell phone users, or people watching a video in their car - or better yet, self driving cars, on that stretch of road…. I predict that within 5 years, that plan will be scrapped.

I have seen youtube videos discussing this type of road design. The main takeaway that I had was that this only worked when the posted speed was at or below 25km/hour. I don't know of anyplace in the U.S. that has posted speeds that slow other than designated work areas or some parking garages/lots..
