Giant Escape City
I was thinking about purchasing a Trek FX 2, but changed my mind and bought a 2012 Giant Escape City. Could not pass this one up, and had been looking for a nice rain day bike/ commuter. Bike also came with a KryptoFlex lock & Bracket, lights (still new in box) and all paper work and sales receipt. The only thing I can say so far, is it rides REALLY well, much better than even expected. Bike was bought new on 11/2012 so it is not even 6 months old, and was only sold due to the rider having health issue's. I've been on it pretty much all afternoon, only needed the saddle adjusted. Here are a few pictures :
The photos due it no justice, and the shifting of that SRAM VIA is scary smooth.
This is a link to Giants site on the components : https://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-us/...specifications
I'm really excited with this bike ! I love the comfort, but still has a sporty feel. If any of you other guys have this model, would like to here your feed back. Right now I would give it 5 stars..

This is the old bike of shame:
https://www.amazon.com/Schwinn-Mens-P...phocus+schwinn
* Broke 4 spokes in a month
* shifters are uncomfortable and awkward
* rear deraieluer is completely destroyed
* after taking it to a shop to be over hauled, it would take me just as much to buy the bike again to get it into a usable state again.

I'm glad to hear. After being burned so bad on this mail order bike, I'm reassured to hear some positives about this bike.

I wasn't specifically, but I just test drove one at the LBS across the street my from my office. I was fairly impressed, but cautious after my last purchase. I need this bike to handle about 400 miles a month of commuting and still be reliable. Changing out tubes and brakes is one thing, but I don't want my deraiuler failing after 1 month and 4 broken spokes in a week. I'm no small rider, I'll admit that at 230 lbs, but I do still need something that is reliable without dropping down $1000. I was going to look at a used bike this weekend, but if I don't find one, I'm picking this up for sure. I like that it already has the rack and fenders which I need here in Seattle, which is always wet, even though it doesn't seem like its always raining.

Glad you like it. I've been a big proponent of the Escape City ever since it was introduced. Alas, I managed to find one in my size at the LBS and the geometry felt a little off to me for some reason.

Keeps Getting Better..
I find the bike to fit me perfectly, so far even the factory saddle is comfortable. I really did not like the way bikes looked with fenders etc.. But I just cant take my eyes off this thing. Road to the store, and then just keep going & going. The rear cassette's first 6 gears are pretty close together, for fine shifting, with a couple larger gears for hills. Notice the tiny bell on the left side of the handle bar, very pleasing to the ear and still gets your point across. The shift indicators actually tell what gear your in, and the comfort grips are just that (comfortable)
I know it's only the second day, but it appears Giant hit a homerun with this bike.

That looks like a great bike!! I love my Giant Escape RX. The only thing I wish it had..... less Giant stickers. The word Giant is on everything. I guess I'll never forget who makes the bike. Enjoy your new to you ride.

Nicely done! It looks great. Here in the PNW we need fenders. Lots of wet pavement. Looks like a great bike.

Nice looking bike. What made you choose the giant over the Trek? Did you ride both, and just like the Giant more?
I went to a Trek dealer today and looked at the 7.2. It looked like a great bike, but I was dressed in business clothes on my lunch break (and it was snowing), so I didn't take it for a ride.
I've think I've narrowed it down to the 7.2 and Giant 1/2, and I will test ride both this Friday, but I wanted to see what your opinion is on both of them as well (I haven't seen the giant in person yet.

Nice to see more brands using colors as accents against a black base color this year though. Definately classy.
