What happened to World of Bikes in Newtown, CT

A few weeks ago I noticed a dumpster outside the shop and then last night driving by there were no bikes in the windows anymore. Didn't have a chance to stop and read the note on the door.

Did it close or relocate?

I don't know how that guy stayed in business all of these years to begin with. I think that store was just a front.

Shop was opened only Th, Fr, Sat, and Suns. I don't think it was his full time career.

Stopped in once. Nice guy but no real road things. Seemed to be mostly BMX.

They are long gone! I think they moved to Danbury and then went south from there. The Newtown location was a custom Hawg shop for about a year and now it's a florist. Isn't that just rosy?

Actually stopped by Saturday evening to read the note and peer through the windows. Note said WOB has ceased to operate and to call the indicated number if they still have your bike. Now that I think about it, I should have taken down the number to see if they have any tools or workstands they want to sell.

Speaking of BMX shops that are or have gone under recently, Rad Rob's in Shelton closed up shop too. He'd been around for years.....same, mostly bmx & skateboards......tough times...

Actually, I was talking to a friend of mine at work who knows someone who knows the owner and apparently he didn't go out of business (WOB) rather his "Day" job changed and needed to focus more on it and couldn't run the shop anymore.

Rad Robs. Never been but sounds like my kind of shop. Too bad.
