Rudge Pathfinder Gran Prix

New purchase. Hopefully a nice new addition to the collection. A late 50's Rudge Pathfinder Gran Prix. I haven't picked it up yet but hopefully it will clean up nicely

Does anyone know how rare these are? I've only ever seen the Raleigh version and I can't seem to find many examples on google images.

Wow. You have the Benelux front gear changer! Nice! Those are rare.

My answer is always the same when it comes to these" I Want ! "

Cleaning time ahead which quite often is my favorite thing.

Raleigh is, I believe always "GranD Prix" with the D. One of the other British Companies had a Grand Prix too. I don't believe it is an altogether uncommon name.

Hope you got a great deal for it. I don't think I have ever seen a bicycle for sale that was as in need of a clean-up than this. I expect that an hour of care will make a world of difference. Looking forward to pictures of it in it's true state (devoid of mud and crud) once you get it. No clue as to value or rarity, but I think you may have one that will please you there.

It looks a lot like the late 50s Raleigh Lenton Grand Prix, including the Benelux mechs.

The OP is from the UK and pardon me for postulating this theory but I think we in the US are impressed because we generally would not see a bike like this very often but things are different over there; a lot of bikes we don't normally see over here. As for condition, not a big deal, we were just looking at one in the UK that was certainly in the elements and we will see that over here as well from time to time.

Yes this is exactly the same as a Raleigh Lenton Grand Prix, this is just the Rudge version.

It cost me Ł100 or 142 "Bucks" as you might say Not the biggest bargain I have ever had but still a very reasonable price for such a hard to find bike.

Wow! Please post your progress with this project here. This bike is a dream project for me. In all my years of hunting old English bikes, I have never found anything half as cool as this. I would love to hear about and see any information you would be willing to take the time to post. Congrats on a super find.

I like the Williams crank, too! I just noticed that you have the "Super 60" shifter, which probably just came out when your bike was built. Are those Universal-brand brake calipers?

That does look a lot like my Raleigh GP. Different cranks and fork crown. I really, really like mine.

Hi there, nice collection you have. I have a request... I don't know if you have noticed there is no source for Rudge and Humber serial numbers 1947-1961. They done't seem to follow the Raleigh pattern.

Rudge seems to have a capital R suffix, Humber seems to have the capital H suffix.
I am trying to compile a list for future reference.

Would you be willing to help out and share your Rudge & Humber serial number. If possible with the date from the SA hubs (if original).

Much appreciated.

Kind regards,
