Is the chrome on this ok?
I wanted to look at this bike tomorrow and one of the things I like about it is the chrome, but I'm not sure if this is too far gone or not.

Well, I guess most of this can be polished out, but the rust might come back.
It depends on what you want to do with the bike.

Some of that is bound to be clearcoat that can be scraped off. Looks like it’s in perfectly serviceable shape.

I would like to ride it, and I would like to take pictures of it from time to time. So I do want it to look good.
Is the price reasonable? Well, that's always debatable. I think still pricey, but you don't see too many Nishiki Professionals around here. I do see some Superbes now and then but I am not a fan of thinner tires. And I think it will fit me okay.

As you know, your asking the wrong group. A serviceable bike is not judged on looks as you might think. If this bike is on the road giving ya a good ride Bravo!
But if this bike is a wall hanger then ya might want to consider deep polishing and buffing and maybe some re-chroming.

Thanks for the replies. Just back from looking at it. While I don't know much about chrome and how it degrades, there were parts that looked like it might be worse off than I wanted. Shame because the size was right for me. I will probably pass on it.

I haven't seen a Nishiki Road Compe in decades. I hope you do end up getting it.
