Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Poll: Did Waterrockets get Screwed by Trek?

The "Thinking of Buying a Trek?" thread has some legs. Now who do you think was right?

uh where is the poll

edit* mah bad mane. I voted no, and would like to explain. I do not think the issue ever was, or is, if WR got screwed in this situation. TREK played it by the book, fair enough. Whats unfortunate is that TREK chose not to look away in a circumstance where they practically acknowledge fault and at the same time where so many other companies, most likely, would have been happy to help. TREK's interests are clearly and solely in profit rather than the cycling community.

Please consider my record on BF when you consider your vote in this unrelated poll.

Remember when I helped you choose spokes?

Or made you feel good about your current bike?

How about all those 1'-intervals you've puked during because of me?

Frame flex thread anyone?

Wheel inertia thread?

I voted for Waterrockets, but only because it would be bad PR for Trek to deny his claim.

I now have a bike computer with a stopwatch on it. 1 minute is a lot longer than I thought.

If you phrased the poll question in a more neutral fashion like "Does Trek owe WR a new frame?" then you'd get quite different results. You should be a pollster for a political party. It's like the difference between: "Should everyone have access to health insurance" and "Should there be a single-provider government-run health care?". You'd get quite different results...

In any case, I think we're all burnt out on this...I know I am.

The WR thread I've learned the most from was the one with the video showing how to remove and reinstall a rear wheel without touching the rear der.

It was brilliant! I laughed, I cried! Two thumbs up!

I'm more concerned about the suffering inflicted upon lil 'rocket because of this whole ordeal. I hope he can recover.

If I bought a used car, would I expect that auto company to repair it when it broke. I don't think the thought would have ever even enter my mind to ask them.

Bummer about the bike but when we buy used gear, we are trading a lower price for less support. It would be nice though if companies would go above and beyond the call of duty.

Well, jeeze, if you had explained it to Trek like that...

It would be nice of Trek came through but I would not hold it against them one little bit if they did not. Can't fault a company for playing by the book.

Don't forget about all those 3 minute all out FTP approximation tests....that you then decided weren't very accurate. Never have I been so glad to not have a PT.

Could we submit this thread to Trek as a test of Treks goodwill towards fixing Waterrockets bike?

Yeah, that still frustrates me. I need to try another one. Freaking ouch. I used to be scared of 1' tests. Those are like pulling out a hair. The 3' test is like pulling out a toe nail.

That's ok, I'm still winning. Come to think of it, the results might not mean much.

Still, if you come to TX, I'm bringing the pack to your break if I'm not in it.

it would have been decent of them to fix it and it may be bad PR, but I don't think they owe him anything.

Sorry wr

I also agree that the poll wording is unnecessarily inflammatory, but this is the internet
