Have to give Mohoric props for the win today. And for nabbing stage wins in all three GTs on their longest days.
Even though his name is familiar, I don't know much about him and he doesn't get much written about him when crazy descending and the supertuck aren't discussed. Reading some post-stage quotes and maybe his low-profile is undeserved. He played it tactically smart today -- by attacking and staying away with 88km still to go! "It was full gas all day, which meant I don't think we even did six hours, so I don't think it counts as super long" he says, after the longest TdF stage in 21 years!

He mentioned targeting another stage besides today's. Will not be given a long leash the second time, I assume.

Anyway, Pogacar showed he's clearly head and shoulders above the field today. The GC battle looks all but finished at this point.

Having lost my grandfather last November, if we have anymore stage wins dedicated to granddads I'm going to run out of tissues! Great day of racing!!
I have to find out what tires DSM is using, that was a crazy descent by Søren Kragh Andersen!!!

As the lead rider was approaching the line on stage 8 (if I recall somewhere between 200 - 400 meters from the finish, a plastic bottle rolls from right to left across the course, and barely is missed by the rider. A few centimeters of difference could have added one additional twist to an already momentous day.

Brutal day in the Alps
Special shout out to Nicholas Dlamini for crossing the line an hour and 24 minutes after O'Connor. Crashed in the stage, knowing full well he was far, far away from the time cut he still soldiered on in awful weather.

It really doesn't get much more perfectly programmed and executed than that.

Impressive ride today by Wout. Following yesterday's 2nd place in a flat-out sprint, he's definitely showing off the range of his abilities on a bike. I love the current crop of talent in the pro peloton. They are making bike racing more exciting than it's been in a while.

I guess it's all a matter of who will share the podium with Pocagar now.

Agreed. He's not the kind of rider who can climb with the main GC contenders, but it was still a very impressive performance on a very challenging stage.

Hindsight gives benefits, but ISN has built a roster based on unfounded hopes and dreams. They have some riders who would be capable in support roles, but they need a reality check if they're to survive.
