Garmin Rally rk200 "Name That Part"

Hi all, long time lurker first time tearing-hair-out-problem-haver.

So im in northern Norway where the roads arent safe enough to ride on until around May (snow, ice etc). Just checking my Garmin Rally RK200 to make sure the swap from trainer to outdoor bike goes smoothly, and I notice the small black end cap on the crank end of the spindle is missing on the right pedal, exposing the bluetooth/ANT board to the elements.

Got in touch with Garmin - "oh no no no no, we dont have this part, but you can send it in to us and we will charge you like a wounded bull to service your pedals and freight them back to you". So Im looking at Option B, finding a new (whatever this is called) and fitting it myself.

Problem is - dont know what its called, making looking for it a real pain ! Can anyone "name that part" ?

Tried to post a picture of it, but cant as I havent made 10 posts.

thanks in advance for any help offered !

cheers
Andy

Welcome to BF!

PS... did you double check that it didn't get stuck in the crank arm hole?

Perhaps you can find something to cap the inboard side of the crankarm to keep moisture out. But still, if the circuit board isn't held properly, that'll eventually be an issue.

If you haven't already done so, Garmin has a forum for all their sporting devices where their customers/users can help each other. Here is a link to the one for Rally pedals.... https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fit...ycling/f/rally

Maybe someone there has already had to deal with your issue.

Iride01 thanks for this - via the garmin forum, turns out Im not the only one with this issue. However the limited feedback there is "cant be fixed, contact Garmin". Really odd that a small plastic part causes this much angst, but I will start looking at your first suggestion and DIY my own cap.

Probably not as much angst as mouse pointer balls did in the 70' and 80's when people took them out of the mouse to bounce them around in play and then lost them.

Since there are others also in need I wonder if someone could 3D print a cap. I see the spindle cap allows one to see a light for the status.

They should but don't don't replacement spindles. Just bodies.

Odd Garmin sells a battery door kit but it does not include the cap you want.

Could use a electronic grade silicone RTV (alcohol and not acid cure) to just plug the end and support the circuit board. There is a primer for the metal so it will stick better. But won't be able to see the LED.
