Methinks a Centurion Elite for $70 is a pretty amazing grab, there, Eric. I'm jealous as all get out.

I got in a couple of those white tired jobs during the Christmas bike thing, too late for Christmas. I think it took half a bottle of whitewall cleaner to get those tires clean. The YMCA found a home for them.

Well, I got it for $25 with tires that had inner tube poking out of the sidewalls, a cheapo gel saddle, the thrift store pulled off the cyclometer and half-tried to pull off the chrome chainstay guard... I'm actually pretty ashamed to say I've done a number on the poor thing's paint, but it's still in operating condition.
But it's just a slow-feeling bike, too "mushy" for my tastes.

But alongside it was a Schwinn mixte with fenders in poor shape for $36 and two $25 mountain bikes. The didn't realize the centurion had some value, admittedly, it does have a garish appearance.

And yes, 60 inches does beat my 63". But proportions are key! I have short legs and a long torso.

I've added serial number and othe info and detailled pictures to the Centurion Database thread.
The white hoods cleaned up nice with simple green:
