Looks purty. Is there a problem? Restoration can be fun, but now you need the proper group.
What's with the Cilo?

Thank you. Ready with an '89 Chorus group, courtesy of Spinz..2x7 Synchro, monoplaner calipers, white hoods,... should be OK. Cinelli's "illegitimate" progeny bike, the Centurion Equipe, all dressed up like the "acknowledged" offspring....
Very sharp eyes....the Cilo is this frame's evil twin. Another Columbus SL frame in red, white in the cutouts, chrome fork. HOWEVER... R bb cup is stuck hard and damaged. I just haven't gotten around to building Sheldon's tool to get it out.. It was an "I can convert this to triple" fiasco that still gives me night sweats... once I get it out, it's going straight back to 2x6 indexed 7400 Dura Ace, including hubs and seat post...

that is a beautiful bike. IMHO there is nothing wrong with repainting a bike to return its former glory or to suite your own taste. however I have (and I am sure most of you do) strong feeling towards people who do intentionally (or unintentionally due to stupidity) to defraud someone.

a few years ago I bought a used '73 paramount track bike, the seller's crappy pics made it look in good condition, and he said the size was 21". When it arrived it was apparent it needed a repaint/redecal, due to many rust patches everywhere. Here is the frame after I got it, you can't see the worst of the rust:
Frame was 23", too big for me, so I reluctantly sold it locally. That buyer had it masked, stripped and powdercoated pretty much the same color. He bought genuine replacement decals. I still see it around town occasionally, it looks great. Before I sold him the frame, I took off most of the parts, and put them on this:
which looks bigger than it rides, top tube is 54cm, it rides great and I got something out of the paramount deal. The bianchi's paint isn't perfect, but it's far from needing a repaint.

Did you copy the original paint pattern? By that I mean, is the same amount of chrome showing as originally?
I have a Colnago that really does need repainting. I plan to ride it for a while to determine if I am going to keep it. If I do, then I may deviate from the original pattern. The fork is all chrome but the fork stays are painted. Some of it is flaking off. I have thought of just stripping the paint and doing what you did with paint in the depressions of fork. I am conflicted about so much chrome showing on the front!
I am also considering exposing more chrome on the chain stays as well.
I like red too but will repaint with the same color as I like blue too! Great looking frame!

Somehow, I see JoeEnglehardt, or whatever that guy's name was, buying this bike in 5 years and asking the forum if he bought a genuine 1960's Cinelli.
It's your bike, you can do as you wish with it, but if it ever changes hands, what's to keep someone else from passing it off as something it isn't?

Inspiring... they look great. I'd LOVE to redo my Bianchi. It looks GREAT from about 5ft away... it's the nicks/chips that kinda bother me, and the peeling stickers that REALLY bother me. Missing the "Nuovo Alloro" from the top tube completely.

Hey Robbie I luv your red bike.
I see nothing wrong with re painting but I am too lazy and too cheap to do my bikes.

my '72 Super Course before
and after...kept the cottered cranks and used period correct bits but moved to aero brake levers and 700c wheels.
Robbie, your repaint looks great, The headtube is stellar!
So you gonna build it up strictly vintage or will you dip into the modern parts?

As a friend I can't let you lower yourself to ride that rat trap. The least I can do is send you my Miyata One Ten and begrudgingly accept that eye sore as a side project that I can ride on rainy days.
I wouldn't ordinarily do this, but it's a special case.

The frame is painted where the OEM paint was, but the fork is stripped, it was painted before.
If someone buys it and tries to pass it off, not sure what they could do, by the time I'm done, it will be quite different from the original, component-wise, too.
And i just realized I can't find the seat post anywhere.
