A very rough Jeunet Franche Comte
$20 delivered to my door. The RD is in pretty good shape and so are the other components. Mostly gen 1 dura ace. Not sure what year it is or how well it will clean up. It’s pretty rusty on the surface.

kitting is somewhat more stock than not

I am a fan of the “Rat Rod” look on pieces like this. On the frameset, I’d like to neutralize the rust, but preserve the wear.
My aspirations are to Evaporust the bare spots and then clear coat over Add a clean groupset and add upgrades of shiny goodness to give satisfying contrast to old and new.
or, more realistically, I may apply these parts to other projects.

You must be a Grand Rapidian ! Glad it’s in good hands. My 630 cleaned up pretty well. Juvela kindly pointed out they have forged drops/tips despite not having derailleur hanger . Versatile vs some proprietary ones.

Nice. The world would be a better place if all French bikes of that era had come without integral derailleur hangers, making it a easy to use whatever rear derailleur desired.

I think it should clean up well, they’re great riding bikes. The chrome on my Jeunet was rejuvenated with an oxalid acid bath (soaked in a bucket of water mixed with Bar-Keepers Friend).

Thanks for the encouragement everyone! This is the most confident I’ve been in a restoration project with much “patina”. I’m happy to report the seatpost and stem are not seized! This makes tear down much more

That's a deal at $20 delivered to your door. It is weird that that the derailleurs were upspec'd but not the shifters. Fun rehab job for sure. If you haven't fixed up and ridden an old French bike like this before, you're in for a treat.
