Not putting enough sealant in my first set of tubless tyres. Hadn't had a flat in three years with clinchers, converted anyway, got a puncture on the second ride that didn't seal. Had to take the bus home.

Ouch, Dang, after seeing this post I don't feel so bad about getting road rash on a splash hitting loose gravel on a turn... I did go over my handle bars once and went into a roll with just a bruise on my shoulder (automatic instinct from Judo when I was a kid), but nothing like that.... I probably stay out a lot of trouble being a bad weather wimp. My hat is off to the Brits who have to ride in the rain or dont ride at all.

Keeping a bike at work locked in the bike rack for lunch hour rides.
-Seemed like a good idea to keep a cheap bike at work.
Not enough daylight to ride at home during the week during winter.
We have a bike rack in the parking garage where I can lock it up.
It was stolen the day before Christmas Eve.
-I hope the thief gave it to a kid for Christmas.

having left my trek alpha 2.1 road bike in the garage, where, somehow, the left shimano 105 shift mechanism got damaged. I now have it on a KK trainer in my room, where it is much safer

I was feeling good and signed up for 80 mile fondo on a Saturday and a 62 mile gravel ride on Sunday. The lead group on Sunday was full of people I can normally ride with, but I did too much work too early, and popped. Started cramping around mile 60 and fought through rather than stopping. So stupid. At the end, I could barely walk. Barely made it to the hotel. That night, I struggled to eat because even my hand was cramping. I still started the gravel ride the next day, but cut it short.

It did teach me a good lesson about over-confidence and certainly helped me pace the Hotter Than Hell 100 much better where I followed the plan and finished comfortably below my goal time.

Getting a rare flat and then not taking the time to make sure I got rid of the problem. So the next ride after changing the tube I got another flat. Sure enough take time time know why your tire flatted. Sometimes it is easy but other times not so.

having bought a new Shimano wheelset & 105 10 speed cassette, thinking I would need them for my '13 & '14 CAAD10s. I ended up selling both. Now, I'm stuck with the unused wheelset w/ cassette

My last ride of 2021, a week before Christmas. Riding with a group of friends, felt strong, went for a sprint against two others who were up for it and...chain bounced off, I went into the bike, lost control, hit the tarmac...at around 55km/h.

Happily nothing serious, some internal trauma by way of bruising and tenderness, tendon strain and some road rash but my Winter clothing saved me from bad road rash. 3 weeks off the bike, loss of some fitness, put on some extra Festive Season weight and now slogging my way back to where I was.

The only thing that comes to mind is not asking how much a bike shop was going to charge for some things I’m not equipped to do, then being unpleasantly surprised. Should’ve called around a bit first.

Were you just not riding it very often?

no. it was my go to primary bike...i fell into the peer pressure at the time that carbon = better.
​​now i do like my carbon bianchi 928....but
the eddy was just an iconic bike.
i now have ti bianchi that is great

Sounds familiar. I bought a MTB for one very specific ride I wanted to do; I spent a bunch of money on it to trim weight. I did the ride.... And I don't think I've ridden it since. Compared to my road bike, the MTB is heavy, awkward (long wheelbase!) and much too wide. I'm going to try using it for some snowy or wet roads riding this winter, but that's just a stopgap until the roads are dry enough for my road bike.
