Wow, what a fascinating story - thanks for posting it.

Who are all these people carrying vicodin around in their pockets though? Or is that just one of those "be prepared" things you bring on a sailboat?

My sailboat has a many thousands of dollars medical kit including surgical staplers, scalpels, suturing kits, hemostats, burn blankets, and a lot of powerful drugs.

We are frequently several days from the nearest medical help and have to be self sufficient. We spend months at a time in areas that have no medical facilities of any kind.

We also carry two and sometimes four bikes on the boat with us.

I wished I had that kit the last two times I crashed on my mountain bike
