Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Came home and did some minor work around the house to get our house ready to go on the market. In fact, I think the stress of that may be why I'm having trouble about every other day riding. Too much on my mind.

I touch up some paint areas and a day or two later, I see some more. Then the sun comes out and I see the windows need washing. I've replaced the guts in one toilet, changed out the check valve in the sump pump, replaced the globe on the hall light, replace some ceiling tiles in the utility room, cleaned out the fireplace and polished the fireplace doors, cleaned out the attic, hauled a bunch of stuff to storage locker, spackled holes in the walls, replaced a couple outlets, added mulch to a rock garden, and on and on and on and I still have a list a page long.

My wife said a little while ago, "You know, this place is looking pretty spiffy. Maybe we wont move."

His wife is a bad-assed rider. He shouldn’t show her any weakness. I would have had the Uber drop me off a block from the house.

She was very understanding though I’m sure she was shaking her head behind my back.

We have been thinking of it for a long time especially after our accident when my wife couldn’t go up and down stairs.

That’s the gist of it. There are other reasons, too.

Highlight of last week BTW was the pathologist's comment on my spinal fluid: "this is the highest white blood cell count I've ever seen in spinal fluid".

Dog with an inner ear infection that spread to the brain. Had surgery to physically remove the infected ear and antibiotics to treat the brain infection. Doing really well now but boy that dog was circling the drain 5 days ago.

Pathologists are not prone to adding personal comments to reports, so you know this one was a doozy.

However I've personally seen higher spinal fluid white counts. Twice.

And right as I typed that they pushed the test back another half hour. Who doesn't like 12 hour days with no notice??

I went for a legit walk. It was slow and boring.

I saw five new bike share bikes stationed on the MUP.

I picked one up; it's heavy.

Yesterday at a swim meet I was sitting and talking to a coach. Suddenly I got lightheaded, my chest felt heavy and my heart rate shot up. Whey I got to the hospital, my heart rate was 230.
