Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Look 585 XL pics?

Hey there,
I'm just wondering if anyone has a picture of a look 585 in size XL. Just wondering if it's gonna look goofy or not.

To me it's a little goofy, but not too bad in real life. Their tubes are a little less stout than a lot of the other carbon offerings, so the head tube looks a bit long in comparison. For your reference, here's a photo of a 595 XL that's on my computer for some reason (apologies if it's a BF member's bike).

For what it's worth, the XL 585 I test rode was quite nice.

thanks Dick Rhee,
It must have been a picture of the XXL frame that I saw before, it truly did look goofy.
the 595 above looks fine to me.

I dont think even an XXL would look all that goofy.

I am coveting a 585 optimum in XXL, but insufficient funds....if anyone has an extra one they don't want, please let me know!

there's an XXL I believe, the rear triangle just looks odd to me. The angle the seat stays come down at is pretty steep. Just thought for a bit that this one was an XL.

You have a look don't you surferbruce?

Sorry to bring back this old thread but i'm looking at buying a 585 Ultra in a XL from an online store and would like to see some XL pics? I don't like how the top tube slopes down on some pics i'v seen. They might be the XXL frames but i don't want to spend a couple grand on a frameset with the top tube sloping down. The geo seems to be close to my caad9 so i can't figure it out. Why is this? thanks

Read the geometry chart. The slope on the XL is zero.

I've got two 585 frames, a special edition red/black '06 model and an '07 Ultra bought cheap on closeout. Both are great. Mine are 51cm (S) with the largest 6cm slope. I prefer the slope after owning an older KG381.

So does that mean the top tube will be parallel to the ground? and the XXL slopes down from the head tube?

Yes, but the XXL has a measly 7mm slope that you could barely see. The smaller frames like mine have the big slopes.
