6yo dismantled bike
My 6yo kid was playing with the quick release on my front wheel and it came apart and fell out. Is it just 2 pieces or do I need to find other washers and stuff?

AND if you do find the springs, they go on Small end towards the Hub/axle, Big end towards the Outside/QR.... if they get put on backwards, an epic struggle can ensue when you next want to remove the wheels.
some QRs also have a CAM with Metal Face that goes between the lever and the bottom of the Fork, or the Frame "Dropout" (the slot that the Axle sets into) in the back.... the concave shaped cam curve goes towards the lever.. the flat towards fork or dropout.

Pay extra attention to this post. It's incredible how many donations come into the non-profit shop with this problem. It throws off brake adjustment, too.

That bike has a quick release front hub and disc brakes. Be sure the quick release is TIGHT and the "lawyer lips" are engaged when you install the wheel. Disc brakes tend to eject the front wheel if the qr isn't tight which is why most disc brake bikes now use thru-axles.

Don't mess around with this. If the QR comes off under braking you're going over the handlebars and it's a face plant.
Above all, use the lever's cam action to achieve final tightening of the QR. Do NOT rotate the lever to "make it tight".
almost any knowledgeable cyclist will help you with this if you ask.

No, the frame was in the trunk of the car. I just stuck the loose wheel in the back seat by the 6yo.
