I'm always curious about bikes like the Softride a few posts above. It appears there is quite a bit fore and aft adjustment available. But how was saddle height adjusted? Different offset tubes?

For some reason, and don't ask me why, I am not fond of this "timebehindbars" seller on eBay (sorry in advance if this is someone here or someone we know). They've been around forever and seem to have no interest in making a sale, just listing items that sit for an eternity because they're a bit too pricey.
I completely agree on your assessment of the seller. I have tried multiple times to reach out to him on bikes that sat for years and make reasonable offers. He is not friendly. never bargains and nothing ever gets marked down - ever. I avoid doing business with him at all costs as I know if something went sideways I would be mad at myself for giving him any of my hard earned cash.

Photos with different configurations means that hopefully they saved the original handlebars and brake levers and it's not stuck in goofball cruiser mode.

The whole beam pivots up and down. If you look, it has the two anchor points: one in the front that pivots, and then one 6-8" further back that has a threaded clamp. Unscrew the threading, change the angle of the beam up or down, and re-tighten the clamp.

I would imagine it's a royal pain to get the saddle where you want it, because changing either the fore-aft setback or the up-down beam angle also changes the other factor as well. And then there's the pre-load/sag that you have to account for, that you can't really know until you sit on it...

Well, it only took a little trial and error to get the saddle right on mine. The whole beam pivots but there's also some sag you have to account for. I forgot where mine wound up unloaded but I think it's something like 1/2" higher than normal.

I will say that I did find mine to be a fast as hell ride that is super comfy. The first 1/2 mile to mile you may feel like you are bouncing a lot but once you get your spin smoothed out these bikes are rockets. Mine is the heaviest of my 20 some odd steel bikes with one of the heaviest wheelsets. Despite that it also posted my fastest ride of the year in 2021 and did it easily and in total comfort. I got mine on a whim just to see what they were about. Fully intended to ride it for a year and then sell it. Not now, it's a keeper!

As it's currently being ridden.

Vintage Schwinn Varsity Coppertone road bike - $135 (Inver Grove Hts)

Original except saddle. Tires were replaced once. Hasn't been ridden in forever Serial # on frame denotes 1961. However, I've always thought that the Sprint crank was 1966-1967 only. So I'm not 100% sure of year. This bike has never been cleaned in it's life. All mechanicals seem to "work" except headlight. I'll list this for about a week. If it doesn't sell, I'm diving into the cleanup. Seems to measure 21.5" stand-over is a little more than 31.5". I haven't ridden this, but you're welcome to take it for a ride....$135 cash.

Just relying on seat tube length and ignoring top tubes can create issues but sellers never seem to list top tubes (or crank length) so I guess it's always always best to test drive.
The one new bike I bought, back in the mid 90s, before I knew, I was fitted for a 56, by the owner. I never got comfortable on that bike, and now ride 60/61, with shorter than 59 top tube.
