A lovely photo essay on bicycles
So beautiful. Makes me want to ride my bike, if it wasn't raining.

Thank you. My first bike ride of my current life (post head injury) was riding home from the bike shop that been my after hours hangout the season before. Mechanic lent me a 1930 Raleigh DL-1 that could have been in those photos. To ride over 10" of hard packed snow through a shut down Boston after the biggest blizzard of last century. It was absolutely the perfect ride. And I was in love with riding again.

Steven McCurry is an amazing photographer. You may not know but he is the National Geographic photographer who took the photo of "The Afghan Girl" many years ago. He immerses himself in his subjects and captures them better than any other photographer alive today, in my opinion. Although the work of Jan Grarup is gripping and intoxicating also. He goes into the hottest of hot spots and captures the moment.

The photos struck me as similar, somehow, even before I saw your post.

We've had zip since spring, so anything that hits dirt disappears; the only runoff is from the streets. Everything's happier. I just wish it wasn't unseasonably cold; it's getting into the 30's F on clear nights. Brrr. /weather tangent
