"Triple-izer" back on the market

Maybe this isn't news but last time I checked there were no current triple-izer options available. I see that XXcycle now has one (no affiliation, yada yada yada). It looks like you will also need a fastener kit, unless you already have your own solution. I know I've purchased the fasteners elsewhere before, but the price seems reasonable.
I already have most of my bikes sorted with conventional triples, but there's one I might upgrade using this option, since it will allow me to retain the original crankset, for a nostalgia-prioritized restoration.

I've always wanted to see one of those. It seems to me that it wouldn't work on a lot of cranksets. Wouldn't the "ledges" on the crank spider interfere with the chainring arm extensions that mount the granny ring? Maybe someone who has used one of these will chime in.

Aww.

Not what I was thinking of.

What was the little brass and stainless doodad of the early STI era that set into the left shifter cable stop that gave an extra index for a tripe crank? (It was a little barrel with a shark fin looking cutout to move the housing enough to make a third ring viable)

They were big in the tandem crowd.

It should be noted that it is for a 130BCD crankset only. This model will not fit the 144BCD or 122BCD vintage cranksets a good number of C&V members run.

I have a TA 130BCD triplizer on a '90s Shimano 105 crankset.

Florida! Climbing the steep slopes of those canal overpasses with only a double must be exhausting.

Yeah, too bad they don't have 122 & 144 BCD versions. I'd be interested in one of each.

Erickson Gismo, I bought one back in 1999 or so but never used it instaed converting my 8-sp double drivetrain to 9-sp triple. I've still got it somewhere in my bike parts boxes.

They are. I just shipped the first 30 rings to the polishing shop. I should have them back and ready to ship by early next week.

So, if I want to install a triple crank on my bike, I need:

Triplizer,

Inner ring,

Mounting hardware for inner ring,

Rear derailleur with adequate capacity,

Bottom bracket spindle (longer),

Front derailleur with adequate "throw"

Does that seem about right? Did I miss anything? Is there anything on the frame that might preclude using a Triplizer? The inner ring has to clear the chain stay with some room to spare to allow for flexing under load.

Can someone refresh my memory about the capacity of a Nuovo Record rear derailleur? Does a NR front derailleur have adequate "reach" foe use with a triple?

The required capacity of the RD depends on the size of the inner ring and the largest cogs in your freewheel or cassette. That needs to be determined before you decide on the RD.
