I was hunting for vintage Coca Cola bottles and I came across an Etsy sale of a vintage bottle still in the bag. It arrived and the bottle was in the cage and it had the straps for connecting it to the bike. Looks just like a TA Specialities cage but it’s not. Here is a picture of the bottle it came with. It was obviously some sort of promotion that was given out at cycling events.

I also still have a Gitane TdF that's almost ready for the road again, I actually bought a good Delrin front derailleur for it, I did replace the plastic shifters for alloy Simplex.

...it looks like you pushed back the start of the next one to ten AM, so maybe then ? It takes me an hour of stretching nowadays, just to be able to hop on a bike without pulling a muscle or some other use related injury. I live in East Sac, too, so maybe I'll ride with you from the Sac State bridge to keep you company. Then I can turn around at the start of your more ambitious ride, ride home, and trim some more of my trees. The worst thing about aging, for me, is how long it takes me to do anything now.

I remember going to buy a set of these and then told they were dangerous.

My mid '70s Peugeot AO-8 had all its original Simplex mechs when I got it (mostly for the large frame). I found the Simplex derailleur to shift really well and be a good friction unit for what it was, but the front one cracked, and I broke one of the DT levers. Later I ran it as a fixed gear before donating the frame to the co-op - too many red bikes, not enough green bikes. I want to find a big green or blue frame UO-8, all original with their Simplex mechs. Montreal is the place to find working-man Pugs with the choicest Simplex. I cannot say why I want another lower end French bike in a world awash in C&V 531 frames, but that's not what this thread is about!

Not Simplex or Mafac, but I have a fondness for Modolo QT-EXE aero brake levers (Also Sachs branded and probably others). No problems so far.

Imagine 1960 and Lucien Juy working in the lab with polyoxymethylene (was he even around then?).

Anyways, much craplastic they were, its remarkable to still see them and even some in use. Who knows, but maybe some of these Simplex derailleurs will outlive the modern carbon jobs.

c. 1972 Liberia purchased for the 2018 edition of the Clunker Challenge 100, seen here as put back to full Gallic glory before being sold to a local vintage bike enthusiast for considerably less than I had in it - but I couldn't bear to part it out.
