Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

This is kind of a misnomer. If you drink too much before or even during a ride/race you will flush electrolytes out of your system which will cause cramping. If you consistantly drink a lot of water your body will get used to it and you will be ok. But you don't want to start drinking a ton more water the day before a ride. And make sure when on the bike you replace fluids with HEED or something similar.

Yes, and be sure to set your computer to KmH or it won't work. Good luck and report back upon completion.

Good luck. From 40 to 62 miles shouldn't be too much of a stretch. Like others said, stay hydrated and fueled and you should be fine.

Nice, i'm going for a metric or more this Saturday as well. Farthest i've ridden so far is a 53 miler and i've been cracking 40 mile rides 3 times a week lately without feeling fatigued at all after any of the rides. I feel i can do 75 but i'll see how my body feels while on the saddle.

Awesome. I keep planning a metric fixed, but silly and serious family stuff keeps getting in the way on the weekends. I just want 6 hours to myself!

Congrats! Now do it again.
